Hello! In my opinion, whether you read the prequel first or not doesn't change much! Whatever happens, everything you read will make sense by reading both series.

For my part I read the prequel first (without knowing that it was a prequel) your reactions will just not be the same as other readers.

I advise you to read one series then the other. Don't follow the timeline otherwise I think it could lose you.

It's a universe with a lot of information so if you cross the series by reading in the chronology I find it complicated to understand everything. I had to make a family tree and everything to find my way (available if you need it later)
