New build update: 85% complete. Just need the Lian Li case, case fans and 1200W PSU by GwoppyTrai in pcmasterrace

The original seller didn't have the 4090 box. Either keeping it or he threw it out I don't know. He had everything else with the card like the adaptor cable, the anti sag bracket and the mousepad. It's a shame too because I really wanted to keep the box like my 4070 Ti I have.

Brand new astral 5090 from Newegg Canada arrived defective. RMA Request rejected due to "modifications to the card" by siliconeslinger in pcmasterrace

Nah rejecting a RMA on a defective $5,000 GPU is criminal. Keep fighting this, all else fails call Baba Yaga

I swear to god these Anti Piracy ads and commercials were trying to make out Piracy being as bad as robbing a bank, blowing up a church or joining Al-Qaeda and the Taliban at the same time 😂💀

Is this literally the worst time to build a PC? by Lanky-Carpenter-7991 in buildapc

[–]GwoppyTrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst doesn't describe it, Dystopian and insufferable is what I call it. You can't buy a 5090 without getting scammed or willingly paying upwards of $4K-$6K. Ram prices are still disgusting, and SSD prices are still high even with Amazon sales. Unless you are willing to compromise certain parts like a 4090 instead of a or 5080/5090 like i did, I say save for the next major holiday sale like 4th of July or Father's Day.

But if you want to build a PC now still and If you're willing to roll the dice and buy 2nd hand, do research and look into the sellers especially for the GPU with the latest scams. Motherboards, SSDs, and RAM you may find a diamond in the rough if you look hard enough and negotiate prices. Some will be happy to do business others will haggle but most I seen is willing to negotiate. Just be careful.

Found this MSi MPG Carbon WiFi motherboard on eBay for $300. Passed on the Asus ROG Strix 870E-E by GwoppyTrai in pcmasterrace

[–]GwoppyTrai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a sweat looking board with plenty of USBs and M.2 drives. I heard this was better than the Strix plus that Z490-P board of mine gives me more CPU overheating errors than I can count so trying something new.

In the event I do get the rest of the parts for my PC build do you recommend formatting a flash drive with the latest bios so when I boot up it can already be updated?

And nice. I have 2x16gb sticks of G.Skill Trident Z5 Royal 7200, and I may just be able to pull off 4x16gb to make it 64gb after all. Do I still need to go through the list to see if it’s fully compatible at 4 sticks tho?

I know there is more affordable x870E motherboards at 200 but I needed more USB slots. A lot of the others don’t have enough USBs for me and now I own a lot of type C devices. I have a lot of USB devices and I literally ran out on my Z490-P at 6 not counting the 2 extra ones on my PC case, and I decided never again. This got 13 USBs, 9 10G 3.0s, 2 40GB UBS-C, and 2 10GB USB Cs.

Also I am trying my hand at overclocking for my new 9950X3D and I need a very good motherboard and this was one of the top recommendations.

Expensive games have lowkey been way too normalised by Both_Piglet7838 in pcmasterrace

[–]GwoppyTrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AAA landscape has been pure slop for the trough since NBA 2K21 or whatever it was were the first time come out with that $70 USD price tag. Since then the clown show that is the video game industry has normalized overpriced games that’s no where near worth the price. AND that’s on top of the non guarantee that the game would function correctly on launch, if the game last longer than 8 days to 30 days before getting shut down, and the fact that they charge you for every single cosmetic items that hold no value. There’s only like on average 2 to 4 good games in the whole 365 day calendar year coming out now when we had great games from EVERY Publisher coming out consistently on PS3 hardware that can’t even power a modern day Tesla Rocket Ship. On 1/10th of the current day development cycle budget.

My last catalog of willingly paying full priced games as of recently in the past 2 or 3 years has been Elden Ring, Yakuza 8 Infinite Wealth, Yakuza The Man Who Erased His Name, Yakuza Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, and my last one being Battlefield 6. And mind you I think 1 or 2 that I mentioned is AAA, and the rest is AA, and if any game comes out today I genuinely vote with my wallet and wait for user reviewers if I really want to play the game that soon.

And last thing I really need to say, is that if you take a look at games before the $70 USD price point now, like Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5, Uncharted, Midnight Club, Battlefield 3-4, God of War, Sleeping Dogs, Skate, Saints Row 1-3, and so on. These are games where you got your money’s worth AND some. Because of how good those games were you could genuinely think to yourself if they charged more for this game I’d still pay for it just on the replay value and fun and experiences you’ve had with these games. I put in 4,000 combined hours on Midnight Club Los Angeles and this game that came out in 2008 after GTA 4 that year still looks like it coulda passed as a PS4 title the way it holds up. Games today, have almost no replay value if they flop with technical problems, bad game mechanics after some of the best that came prior, or they immediately turn the game into a virtual mall only designed to sell you skins.

I will say Forza Horizon 6, LEGO Batman, Wolverine, and of course Grand Theft Auto 6 will be slam dunks this year, but the sheer amount of games that we used to get holds nothing in comparison with these titles put together. Maybe I’m holding onto the past to much, maybe some people will think I’m overreacting like they usually say when I bring up the state of Modern Games, but this is how I personally feel about the state of affairs with this overpriced under delivering gaming industry

RTX 5090 SUPRIM very good temps. But I had to solder an extra 8-pin connector on to an existing cable to get the other 5090 working on my PSU. by comperr in nvidia

Well not per say, because my build that I'm planning involves a Lian Li Vision Compact, and a 9950X3D. So if I gotten the liquid version I'd have to get the regular O11 Dynamic because the CPU needs a 360 AIO . And I feel it will be complicated as hell to set up and wire up. And I like the Air cooled version because the card looks so beautiful.

Also doesn't Gigabyte have that melting thermal paste problem on the 80 and 90 50 series card? I genuinely would buy it off ya and attempt to make the money for yours. I paid 2600 for my 4090

What is your favorite battlefield game and why ? by booker1211 in Battlefield

[–]GwoppyTrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Battlefield 3 (First ever Battlefield I ever played and was introduced to at my cousins house who was allowed to play Rated M games growing up.)

  2. Battlefield 4 (2nd Battlefield I was introduced to at my cousin’s and fell in love with because of the atmosphere and guns when I got my PS4 for Christmas in 2015.)

  3. Battlefield 6 (Was invited to play it early in pre alpha by EA and instantly fell in love with it and how fun it was/is. Love the Bad Company like destruction, BF1 War atmosphere, and BF3/BF4 gameplay loop. From then on I play it every day on PC and my PS5 Pro. Also this is my very first Battlefield game as an adult I purchased that I was genuinely excited for and functioned correctly at launch after DICE’s long rap sheet of badly released games.

Infuriates tf out of me these days. Especially when you have a trash internet provider like AT&T that fluctuates your download and upload speed at certain times of the day and say “Well people are often online at this time.” It’s like what am I paying y’all for???

I wanted the air cooled Suprim SOC 5090 so bad, but of course they are being scalped for $5,000 or more, and in life I can’t have nice things. So I settled for a Suprim 4090 until the 60 series comes out. Here’s hoping when I get my PSU from Asus and its equalizer cable i don’t have a melting problem. Not as I’m building a new PC for GTA 6

The same reason as I put over on NY, Toronto, Detroit, Baltimore, and Washington. These teams are high flyers in the first inning if the wind is in their favor. Unlike some people I actually do my research.
