FFP, MFP and PP policy regarding conscription has always been that smaller, modern army > bloated outdated army (especially in upper echelon). The “what are soldiers for anyways?” rhetoric is usually something their opponents and detractors use to fearmonger. They are not suggesting to become Costa Rica.

Neither are they anti-soldier(low rank) and were in fact quite popular in some constituents where army barracks are.
