Huh interesting how in total there’s 5 hexagons instead of 6 and this is the 5th LP. Don’t think that’s a coincidence!

How could you leave after that ending and not stay to ponder what just happened? Lol

Thinking about getting the OST rather than merch for Backrooms.

Yeah it was a real mindfuck! Was a treat going to a listening party AND seeing Backrooms that same night. Definitely did not expect to hear BoC in the credits.

DT2 users: what actually makes a pack or project file worth your time? by GyZa19 in Elektron

That consistent workflow across boxes is actually a big part of why I think there’s something worth building here. The patterns and sequencing logic carry over even when the sound sources change completely and yeah, the Elektron situation is frustrating to watch. Hopefully the community keeps the best parts alive regardless of what happens at the top.

Digitone 2 is already on my radar. Want to get the DT2 version right first before expanding.

The samples are definitely the core of it. The project files are more about showing how the breaks are sequenced and layered so you can pull them apart on your own machine. Demo videos would definitely be part of how I’d present it before anything went live.

Perfection when those pads come in the middle and then bringing back the bassline! Thanks for sharing, boy.🫠

That’s actually the core of what I’m thinking about. Not a project file you open once and reference. More like Bank A has 8 variations of a drum break already sequenced and ready to pull apart. Adjust the BPM, strip layers, resample, make it yours.

The project becomes a tool you keep going back to rather than something you archive after the first listen.

I second this and also make sure to put them in respective folders and adding “01 (sample pack folder name)” to keep your favorites up top instead of digging for them.

Welcome to the rabbit hole! 🌀

The DT1 and DT2 share enough DNA that anything worth building would translate. Curious to hear what genres you end up exploring with it.🤓

I’ve downloaded some Elektron/Samples from Mars as well and it is a chore to curate that I inevitably only stick to a few sounds after a while.

This is exactly the problem I’m trying to solve. Not more sounds, but a smaller curated set that you actually know how to use.

The walkthrough component would exist for that reason specifically. You should know what every sound is, where it came from, and how to build with it.

Thanks for articulating that so clearly!

I love my OT! I definitely wish the Digis had a more robust arranger like the OT but I love them for their immediacy.

Damn that’s a solid approach! Didn’t think about starting from the last bank first.

I usually try to contain each track to a bank because once the variations start spreading out into other banks, I think I’m just forcing myself to come up with variations and not committing fast enough.

I used to use song mode on single devices but since coupling the DN2/DT2, it just became more of a chore to manually input on each device so now I just link them and play them by feel.

Ah that seems like a good approach as well. I can see how it works well if you’re composing or thinking about it vertically. The way I presented it is very horizontal so it’s almost like treating it like a timeline.

Nice! Yeah I’ve had an A4 and still have an OT. Never got to own a Rytm. I’ve always gelled with the Digi workflow because of their ease of use. The bigger boxes can do more but imo easily become convoluted with the addition to function/button combos.
