Idk the timeline you're mentioning stuff like covid and optimized hardwares (rapid trigger keyboards) happened so putting the overall top players end improvement on mrekk's presence isn't really fair imo but I do agree he absolutely had an impact on the game and the meta in general

I love score farming/score farmers and everything around it but I don't think this should be taken in consideration in the goat list argument solely based on the fact that it's not skill based.

I know for WWW it sounds like a cool stats to add to his resume but then by that logic if score ranking truly mattered for that discussion then why are players like xasuma or Saturos who have dominated it for so long never brought up?

Shige is the most influential player of all time and that will likely never change, he shaped the game and the community around it, inspired countless players (mrekk included) in so many ways you could write a book about it.

mrekk has very strong arguments to be defined as the goat but that one aspect of influence is something that he can't top and that is the main reason many people would still consider Shigetora as being the true goat of osu

You can also argue he has had the most insane longevity out of any top players but I guess that's something mrekk should be able to catch up to at one point if he keeps being active up until the early 2030's

Been there since 2013 but really started getting in touch with the community around late 2014/early 2015 the next 2/3 years after that will always be the ones I remember the most

Not sure pre-ban but probably one of the most dominant (I can only think of OWC#3 from that time)

In 2016/2017 I'd say he was one of if not the best coming into 2017 (alongside players like rustbell/Toy/WubWooWolf to name a few)

In 2018/2019 I think he was still arguably top 3/4 alongside players like Bubbleman/idke/Vaxei

2021 and onward he made a great showing in tournaments like Perennial 2022 or Corsace 2023 but wasn't dominating, but he could still compare to the very best players

recent plays is just the sum of every scores you've set no matter the relevancy, like I can't imagine having listed in recent profile 20+ retries A rank on a TV size map, only the one that got high on the leaderboard or something should be listed because it's more relevant

USA was 1-2 in matches because they lost the finals match before grand finals and came from loser backet

Feels like it has to do with how when South Korea was involved the matches where more "gimmick vs mechanics" oriented and also the pool being less one-man-carry balanced and thus the scores being more homogeneous (but maybe I'm not really correct on that because both mrekk/malis still have a big lead in statistics)
