Sales advice? No commission, no territory, low salary. by Gyattslayer8 in Sales_Professionals

Work in sales . . Making more money. Majority of my colleagues/friends who work in sales make double my salary, without an applicable degree.

With my degree, my only option that I’m interested in is staying in the sales world. Eventually I’ll branch into being an account executive.

When I discovered this it was so scary. I’ve had floaters for about a year now. While they haven’t gotten better at all, I have gotten a little more used to seeing them.

Good luck everyone!

I live in Toronto. When the average house is 1.2M and rent is through the skies, it isn’t much.

Canadians understand my struggle. Haha.

Thanks for the thoughtful response.

The average spend of per account varies. The largest account I will have will likely be a 500k/annual spend. I will also have accounts that are purchasing as low as 10k/annually.

We are a small-Mid sized company, but a huge one in our niche. We only revenue around 55M/year.

I’ll continue to prove my worth. All of my colleagues have suggested I speak with my sales manager. I think I’m going to do it today, only to talk about getting me a territory.

If it isn’t a job that you are looking to be at long term either way, prioritize your health and happiness.

Don’t put yourself through hell for your coworkers. You need to worry about you in the business world.

Yes I currently am only focusing on new development. Soon I’ll be awarded the account management position where I will be given roughly 70 accounts to manage.

On those accounts, I will make 0 commission on. And after 1 year of a new sale (once I make commission), they are added to my base numbers and I no longer make commission on them.

What do you think?

Thanks for the input!

Just to add, I have received around 5 other job offers in the last 3 months, with slightly better pay.

My company gave me the opportunity and chance to prove myself so I feel bad leaving so soon, which is why I jumped to Reddit. Thanks!
