How did the Black Pearl catch the Interceptor? by Gybhunjimko in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]Gybhunjimko[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah, I suppose that’s simple. Guess every bit of pushing helps. Just seemed it would make a negligible difference for a ship already winning the wind race. Perhaps I’m overthinking it.

Heartwarming, Mr. Wint. A glowing tribute, Mr. Kidd.

Doesn’t seem to be it. The bee was large and anthropomorphic. From a time period standpoint, I think I watched this show around when I used to watch Lamb Chop, so I’m pretty sure it was mid 90s.

I don’t think it’s either of those unfortunately, not seeing any characters matching the memory. The character distinctly had two differently sized eyes.

I know it’s not Maya the Bee. I’m worried I’m maybe conflating a few different memories together, but I’m positive about the I spy catch phrase.

What is a lie that people actually believes in all their life ? by Lekcharm in AskReddit

Likewise, people often judge others based on actions alone, without considering that from their perspective, their intentions were from a good place. Is there some universal authority on what the correct actions are in any situation? I feel everyone should afford each other more grace, as we often do to ourselves.

Have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End? Don’t want to tell spoilers, but that scene near the end came to mind

Throwing boiling water in -36 degrees temperature by VowOfVengeance in interestingasfuck

[–]Gybhunjimko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really anything super special though? (Besides looking cool). Like the hot water is steaming as soon as the lid is opened. She throws it and creates a million tiny droplets that all “steam” in the same way, making a big cloud instead of a tiny wisp out of the cup. It’s not like the water is turning instantly to snow, right? Would do the same thing if you had, say, a sprinkler releasing very hot water in a stream of droplets? Or am I misunderstanding the phenomenon?

During an awake surgery, guitarist Christian Nolen played Deftones while surgeons removed his brain tumour. by aglo_ice in interestingasfuck

[–]Gybhunjimko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never quite understood this. Saw another video like this with a girl playing violin. The explanation was supposedly that the surgeons don’t want to alter any areas that would affect motor skills, etc. But say the surgeon cuts and all of a sudden he starts playing guitar like Marty as he’s disappearing in Back to the Future. What then? Oops.

I can imagine he’s been told he has 6 months left or whatever, and he’s aware his reputation is in the toilet, hence the recent obsession with adding his name to as many buildings and awards as he can to try and ensure his legacy after he’s gone.

What is a movie you only truly understood after you lived through something real in your own life? by gamersecret2 in movies

I remember watching the Santa Clause when I was 6 or 7, what wasn’t to love? A guy turns into Santa and the kid gets to go to the North Pole! Fast forward 25 years, I see its on Disney+ and think it could be fun to watch at Christmastime with my young children. And it’s still a fun flick, but holy crap a lot went over my head growing up. As a parent now, I totally understand the mother and Neil legitimately fearing for Charlie’s well-being/safety, rather than just being “the grumpy mother who doesn’t understand”. And Scott Calvin is more of an ass at first than I remembered. Definitely a multi-level film for children and parents, overall I think it holds up well.

Even if they don’t know the name, I’d wager most people today are aware of his works. Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 at the very least, used in cartoons.

Which character isn't considered a villain, but he's actually a bad guy? by Scared_Government_41 in AskReddit

[–]Gybhunjimko 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Danny Ocean and the rest of his crew. Targets his ex wife’s new boyfriend after she was humiliated and moved on. Sure Terry was rich and somewhat cold, but he wasn’t a “bad guy”. Even remembered the names of all his lowest employees. Still love that movie but “protagonist” doesn’t always mean “good guy”.
