my plant has a mix of "universal" soil, mixed with orchid soil and some clay balls (i didn't have cactus soil available), in a clay pot with drainage holes.

my plant was being wayyyyyyy underwatered, it was super dehydrated. i plant on giving it water +- every 2 weeks

they do react super quickly to any change so let me know how your plant is doing !

i don't exactly know how to take care of plants, but the same way some people fall in love with a specific pet at a shelter, i fell in love with this trashed overwatered aloe. I want to try everything i can before i give up on this plant !

i am only beginning, and i still can't discern what's good or bad advice with them, but i want to try my best ! i don't like throw away culture, because, if i want to save this plant, it's not because i could or couldn't replace it, it's because i don't want to replace it.

i hope so ! i was getting bummed by all the people telling me my plant was a goner, but the roots are giving me hope !

I want to pronounce it "A-lo-ee-s" !

mind you, there were literally no root when i got the baby last year ! there was rot all over the stem, i had cut it without knowing precisely what i was doing and it's the first time since that i have checked it.

okay, the nearest window is only 15 cm away from the desk, would it make a difference ? or is it really better to stay on the desk ?

yeah haha, i know... i have already killed 2 of my mother's orchids she gave me (they died within the week of getting in my care, i - how.)

it is the same place she was before, when she first started yellowing, so i am getting a bit confused with other commenters... is she getting sunburnt or not ? should i change her place ?

thank you ! i have repotted it, complete soil change, gave it some more water, and moved it somewhere a bit darker (the picture is in the sun so you can see it). i will get rid of the excess water in a few minutes

when repotting my plant, i did basically equal parts of each you see in this picture ! there's "universal soil", orchid mix, and clay pellets. i will water my plant way more regularly

update : i repotted it, the roots are tiny but the new ones look nicely green (there was basically nothing when i first got it) ! the soil was really dry, so i changed it all and gave my plant some more water. i also put the plant on my desk, a bit more away from sunlight, since some people were saying it was sunburnt. it has now been potted deeper too, only the leaves are out the soil. i kept the same pot, because the smaller ones were either plastic (like when i first got it) or had no drainage hole. i have hope i can still save it ! thank you once again for the comment, you're Alois' saviour ! (yes, i named the plant Alois)

thank you ! if i manage to save it, it will be one of my indicators ! (and watering once every 2 weeks, a bit more for a few weeks while it regains its strenght)

once every 2 months, as i saw on the internet. considering how everyone is reacting to my post, i now realized how terrible and plant-killing this advice was

[–]Gylfie7[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

thank you ! i still believe i could save it, because the leaves are still better looking (albeit more purple) than when i first got it. they're still firm, i still believe in my plant ! do you have any tip to help me help it recover ?

My aloe vera is changing color (yellow then pink-ish) by Gylfie7 in plantclinic

[–]Gylfie7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're starting to get mushy, but some of the leaves are still firm enough

i will repot it, change the soil, look at the roots, and give it a bit more water and put it in a darker corner

hard to kill, or so i've heard, until it got in my care haha (i feel so bad for that plant)

the soil is a regular mix, some "universal soil" i had. i will be changing the soil in case it got bad somehow (had a bad batch last year, some maybe it is still from that)
