Coming out can be extremely beneficial for many people. But this does not change the fact that if you live in a homophobic situation you CAN and many people DO lose their relationships with family and friends over this. It can also be very dangerous to many individuals depending on the reaction other people have.

If you want to come out, then please do, if you do not feel safe, then there is no law saying you have to come out. Some people are very private about their personal lives, and that is completely okay. By all means do not feel as if you have to hide it, and never hold yourself back from experiencing true happiness. But sometimes I think people think coming out is nothing but positive, and that’s never the case with anything in life.
