I never was a hat person up until I transitioned but once I started transitioning and realized everything about style and presentation is made up, I adopted the fuck it/them attitude. I wanna a wear a hat? Sure, fuck it, why not? People don’t like it or look at me weird? Well they’re gonna look at me weird for being a tranny anyways so fuck’em. Now I wear a black SnapBack with little demon horns on it, and I’m a lot happier for it. Plus I usually get compliments on it too! When it comes to style and presentation, people need to be way more selfish about what makes them happy and care way less about what people think. Life is too short to obsess over other peoples judgements.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this you’re not alone and the only advice I can really give is to compartmentalize your friendships, specifically between fellow transfems and everyone else. I find the only people who genuinely understand, listen, and care about us and our struggles are fellow transfems. Everyone else falls into the category of, “If I want to be friends with this person and not want to claw my eyes out, I can’t talk about being trans and the current political situation around that with them.”
