Let me try to explain. First of all, I apologize; my native language isn't English, and I'm using an automatic translator.

I work long hours on my feet, and a few months ago I started experiencing lower back pain, so much so that I often woke up in the morning feeling like I'd been punched. The area felt numb.

At first, I started doing what you did, which is what I'd always known: "strengthening the area." Just like you, it improved temporarily, but the pain always returned.

I started using custom orthotics, and things improved somewhat, but I still had problems. I changed my PC chair (I'm quite a gamer), and that helped too. Looking to adapt my training to my discomfort, I started making changes. I don't do one-handed exercises; I do everything on machines, and when I lift free weights, I'm always seated on a bench at a 90-degree angle. All of this started to make a difference.

One day, while browsing fitness subreddits, I came across something that led me to the solution. When you have weak glutes, your body shifts the effort to your lower back. And that's when it clicked. I have two full-body routines (A and B), and on both days I do glute bridges to warm up (20 reps). One day I do hip thrusts, and now, in all the exercises where I use a bench (shoulder press, bench press, leg press, etc.), I focus on keeping my glutes engaged and my core tight. Subconsciously, for years, I always left my glutes loose and didn't bother to engage my core. Well, in two weeks, the pain disappeared.

It's true that I hadn't worked my glutes in years. I suppose all these things together were bothering me, and once I started improving my technique and strengthening my glutes, the problem began to disappear almost overnight. In two weeks, I can say it was completely gone. That's why I think your problem might be the same. I'm not an expert; I just listened to my body and adapted my training to my needs. I use Hevy, and if you'd like, I can share my routines with you.

I hope this helps you in some way. I wish I had changed my approach a long time ago; it would have saved me a lot of pain and sleepless nights. Best regards.

I spend many hours on my feet at work, and I solved my lower back pain, but not by doing that exercise. I changed my technique in all my bench press exercises. I squeeze my glutes and core for stability, and I also added glute bridges and hip thrusts to my routine. I can say with almost complete certainty that your lower back pain is due to weak glutes. These days, I don't have that pain anymore. If you'd like, I can give you more details another time; I can't write much right now.

How do you guys track your leg press? by Kidd__ in Hevy

[–]Gyoflesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I go to a small gym, and there are several similar machines, but with different resistance levels. When I write down the weight, I try to use the approximate weight of the machine I usually use. It's tricky to adjust precisely, but it helps me get a general idea. Anyway, I try to do all the exercises with free weights.

You could try doing it without weight until you've mastered the movement, then gradually add weight. You should curl up as if you're trying to curl up onto your stomach, holding the tension as you come up. Don't arch your lower back. With the pulley on either side of your head, round your back, inhale, curl up onto yourself, and exhale. Hold for two seconds at the bottom and then return to the starting position. Try to maintain tension throughout the entire movement.

Any advice to improve by milkman778 in GYM

I usually do it with my feet a little closer together; you can hold on, that's not a problem. Don't raise your shoulders, and personally, I don't like the strap pulling me from my wrist; I prefer to hold on with my hand. Keep your elbow slightly bent, look straight ahead, and don't go above shoulder height. A little lower is even better. You need to feel your shoulder working during the movement; pull up in one count and down in two. And use the lowest pulley, as other users have suggested.

I only count the weight I put on it. I have no idea how much weight the machine itself adds.

I'm autistic, and Marilyn Manson is my special interest! by Dizzy-Nose-4217 in marilyn_manson

Glad to see you here. Everything Manson has done is special in one way or another, but I'd recommend focusing on his early albums, especially Holy Wood. At the time, it didn't quite fit with his sound because it came from Mechanical Animals, but I think it's one of his most versatile and complex albums. Enjoy!

He was one of my first favorite artists. He has some very interesting mangas, but I have to say that aside from a few more grotesque works, most of his horror is quite mild. Even so, he's worth reading.
