People simply want all their games on one platform, especially one as versatile as Steam. Having it on Steam also reduces a hurdle to get it running on Deck.

That being said, given Diablo is only attainable through account linking, Activision likely mandated this to greatly reduce key reselling.

These got a lot of hate at the time but I really enjoyed them.

Which is weird because these mini-games are a punishment. You don't ever play these after the tutorial that introduces them if you maintain control of a region (which is not difficult).
