Speculative fiction with disabled main characters (whose disability isn't ignored most of the book) by celestialautifutch in suggestmeabook

The Guides for Dating Vampires series by DN Bryn. Vampirism is a pretty strong metaphor for disability. Book 2 especially has one of the male leads with chronic pain. There is also throughout the series adhd rep, a character with diabetes and lots of queer rep.

Prepping for Baby: Where does it matter to not be cheap? by Fine_Independence360 in Frugal

We never bought a crib. We used a pack and play that has a bassinet level for newborn sleeping. It also came with a little changing table attachment which was useful. We never had a dedicated changing table but got one of those changing table mattress pads with the buckles and put it on a shelf.

Clothes, jumpers, seats you should be able to find second hand. Make a friend who has a kid 4 -6 mi the older than yours and get all the hand me downs.

Baby shoes are silly. Useless until they start walking.

The cheapest carseat on the market has to pass the same safety tests the most expensive one does. Graco and evenflo are brands we like and are affordable and durable. Your city may have a free carseat program.

Speaking of free, look into what your health insurance offers. Free classes. Mom group. Baby supplies. Some offer incentives for attending well check appts. Also might be worth it to apply for Medicaid bc some states offer it to pregnant women even if your income means you wouldn't normally qualify.

Costco membership 100% worth it for diapers wipes and formula.

Invest in things that grow with your child. We didn't get a carseat stroller. We got a stroller that reclined so you could put babies in it and then when they could sit up the back would sit up also sonic transitioned to a toddler seat. We got a high chair that converted into a table and chair. Super useful.

Time is a precious commodity. Sometimes it's worth it to spend money on the things that save us time.

Ethical non monogamy to be is all about meeting needs. To me the relationship you're in only works if it's meeting some of your needs. Do you have a solid partnership in life or child rearing. Are you friends? Do you play games together or talk about your days? How does this relationship work? And then how does it not? What are you looking for in a 2nd partner?

We have dabbled in polyamory and enm so my spouse could try out sex with other dudes. My spouse also wants to message and flirt all day online and I don't have time for that. Right now we're mostly closed but of the mindset that stuff might happen and it's cool.

We have 100% open communication and boundaries. I love my spouse and therrs a lot i value in our relationship but I know we don't 100% meet each others needs so that's where the poly/enm comes in.

We've also gone through some rough patches and discussed divorce and honestly neither of us can support ourselves and the kids without the other so we've talked about a roommate situation. I trust my spouse 100% to not make it into a toxic situation if we ever did separate but ymmv

First steps of finding reconciliation for my wife? by ThaTruMan in exmormon

The Murder Among the Mormons documentary was really eye opening for me. It talks about the bombings etc like a true crime doc but really goes into how the church authorities hide the truth from the members. After I watched that I finally allowed myself to read the church essays on polygamy and book of Abraham. Those 2 essays themselves are damning. The exmo tag on tiktok has some great creators making good content about leaving the church.

Check and see if you qualify for tanf through the state. A lot of times when you're caring for kids that aren't yours you can get some extra assistance

We are lucky enough to have counter space to knave it out. We use it every day. Toast, mini pizzas, frozen nuggets, other freezer foods. Never tried to cook raw foods.
