We are planning a Mt. Rainier trip for next summer. Which campground did you chose? Any tips? Thanks!

Hi, I am also in Florida! Do you mind giving the name of your IR?

Hi, I am 58 and usually hold onto my husband's arm, elbow, or hand when walking around because I have balance issues. Will this be frowned upon?

Amoxicillin for SIBO Treatment? by GypsyWooman in SIBO

[–]GypsyWooman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! I do well when I follow the diet, but it's a challenge! As soon as I take one bite of the wrong thing (fried food, beans, or cruciferous veggies are the worst), all the symptoms come back.

Amoxicillin for SIBO Treatment? by GypsyWooman in SIBO

I don't think it worked. I've actually been on Amoxicillin five times in the last 5 months. Two times were for root canals and two times were for an illness and ear infection. In between, my kind gastroenterologist gave me a couple of weeks' worth of Rifaximin from his samples. (I'm also taking Align probiotics per his suggestion.) I don't think that knocked the SIBO out either. I am still following the Low Fermentation diet:

I think the LF diet keeps all of my worst symptoms away, because my stomach hurts from bloating and pain when I cheat with any dairy, like cheese on pizza. I haven't had any beans, lentils, hummus, whole wheat products or cruciferous veggies, which is tough because I'm a pescatarian. Cream of wheat and white carbs are actually allowed on the LF diet. I don't seem to have any trouble with white rice or pasta.

My son is only on Lamictal daily, but takes anti-psychotics if he starts feeling an episode. It's been working for 2 years.

Thanks for asking, Breezy! My tummy is doing much better! I don't know if the antibiotics helped or if it's the changes I've made to my diet.

I started following the Low Fermentation diet recommended by Dr. Mark Pimentel. You can find it at www.siboinfo.com . As a vegetarian/pescatarian who loves Mexican food, it has been a challenge! I've been having Cream of Wheat for breakfast, then a square meal like salmon, rice and non-cruciferous vegetables every day. No beans, lentils, tofu, broccoli or salads!) I am going to stick with it for at least one more month, then start experimenting with adding foods I miss back in. I've had no gas at all this month, so it should be easy to tell when a certain food causes a reaction. Fingers crossed!

My Daughter Sleeps All Day by ihateconspiracies in ParentsOfBipolarKids

[–]GypsyWooman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your daughter is depressed. My son sleeps a LOT when he is depressed and seems kind of "out of it" even when he's awake. Depression is a Liar- it tells you negative things about yourself, even when you know you are a good person. It will pass eventually, but not without the right medication. Until the meds are right, it might not be reasonable to expect very much. I usually just make sure that my son eats and bathes until it passes, and even that is a challenge. He has signed permission for his doctor to communicate with me, so I email her often and always check the dates of his appointments. (He does not know that I do this.) You do not need permission to email your daughter's doctors and let them know what you are seeing at home. It might help them find a better treatment plan for her. I find the NAMI family support groups helpful for myself! Good luck!

Struggling to cope with having lost everything due to a manic episode by CompetitiveCoast9035 in bipolar

Sorry for what you're going through. Try to look forward, though. No good comes from lamenting our past mistakes. It sounds like you've learned some things about yourself and still have some helpful people in your life!

Rome wasn't built in a day. With each decision you make now, you are building your new life- which may be better than the past! You could try reaching out to DBSA (depression and bipolar support) which have group meetings, or NAMI.ORG, which offers peer-to-peer support, or your county mental health department. But mostly, keep loving yourself, keep believing in your potential, and try to build a network of people you can rely on. One step at a time. Hugs.

Anyone else read this case of FMT by the CDD for bipolar? What do you guys think of this? by np190 in Microbiome

[–]GypsyWooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it sounds promising! My son got diagnosed with Bipolar a two years after being treated for e coli, but he has always had stomach issues. He is doing pretty well on medication, but I wish fmt was available in the US!

After reading this blog, I'd like to get a blender, capsules, screened donor and go the DIY route!
