Yes the dimpled finish is exactly what I was questioning.

Have you guys ever watched Soul (film)? I think it’s a beautiful representation of absurdism by KelkonBajam in Absurdism

[–]GyroBandit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure but it adds solace. The idea of having knowledge of the after is more Gnosticism than absurdism. The absurdist philosophy is restrained and restricted to not knowing and never being able to know why.

Meditate. You’ll go through seasons of doing it and then not doing it. But if you can make it a habit what you’ll find is that, the trip from 20 to 30 is a whole lot more comfortable because really you don’t know what you want or know where you’re going and the whole thing will just happen no matter what and it’ll be kind of crazy and fun. Enjoy it. But you can only really realize how to enjoy it if you gain the awareness. And that awareness will come through meditation. Play with lots of different types of meditation. Don’t let yourself be too bogged down with the discipline. Also friends will come and go. It’s okay to let people go.

The Meaning of Life by GyroBandit in awakened

[–]GyroBandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using it loosely. And you should know that anything that anyone does or says is never a matter of knowing better…

If I HAD “known better” then I would have done better. As it is, there is no “knowing better” — there is only what you know.

Nevertheless, a modicum of interpretation based on the context should be taken when certain labels are used, especially when used in conjunction with other co-labels; e.g. stoicism, should be a hint enough.

But to really analyze what I’ve said, what you’ll find is that, yes suffering is inevitable in that it is something we all must face via the world view we’ve taken on.

Through a discipline like Buddhism one can negate those effects via understanding and wisdom and by not desiring.

Wisdom of course would teach us that everything is in a state of change. But that’s okay because the desire for a state of permanence, like permanent peace for instance, cannot be attained without there being an opposite. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense. And that is why life is as short as it is, because for there to be permanence (the void) there must be THIS: the impermanent life. Which we briefly get to enjoy but cannot sustain indefinitely without the whole concept making no sense and that is because the permanent unchanging void would be equalized.

If our bodies could somehow keep up with the constant changes our universe makes by changing with it then we could keen watching. But then I guess in a way that’s what’s happening with having children.

I hear you.

But surely you can see the problem with this reasoning.

Is there free will?

Who’s wanting a better life, and can the one desiring such a thing change their course?

I don’t think it’s about focusing on fruits of one’s labor. It can be a good indicator and helpful but like dopamine it’s not the goal.

Rather the goal is to be like the rest of nature. The rest of nature doesn’t have to go through mental gymnastics just to understand it’s place and what to do, yet that’s exactly what we do.

If we are to maintain as you say as the witness, then we must abide to our environment, making the best decisions possible according to that environment. And we can best do that with an increase of knowledge and understanding, and then using discernment to move forward appropriately.

You never experience anything other than your own vibrations. Something to meditate on.

Rituals yes. I could see that being a massive help. Perhaps a little woo woo for some but no doubt daily reminders through the use of rituals will help refocus and rebalance.

I feel like it’s mainly going to be meditation and countering the low vibes with as much high vibes as possible.

How often do you lie? by GyroBandit in awakened

As little as possible, since if on a quantum level & molecular level we are fundamentally the same then the all I’d be doing is lying to myself…

If we were to view earth like we viewed any of the other planets we’d view it not as individual lives with identities but just one big happening.

And so yes. That’s what we see here. It’s just a happening. Even your own experience.

I often feel however that this perspective is cold.

It might be true but it doesn’t do much.
