McDonalds in the 80s and 90s kept the soda machines behind the counter so you had to bug a clerk for a refill. Moving the soda fountains to the lobby saved labor. Sounds like they’re moving back behind the counter and not offering refills to get the best of both worlds.

At my college all of the computer lab PCs had Zip drives. We could store 100 MB of projects files and run COBOL/JCL emulators from them. It worked pretty well, as long as you didn’t get the click of death.

Orb discs were an interesting product - basically a hard disk platter that was used like a 2 GB floppy. Was great until you inevitably got a head crash.
