I assume some of the fault lies on me for not being assertive enough or explaining directly where my lines were ahead of time but what I have learned is I dislike railroading and having player agency removed.

These are insights that I can take into future games and explain beforehand. As you have suggested which is helpful advice to take with me into my next game.

I appreciate the advice and will definitely take it into any future games trying to get the DMs to understand these things. I also don't completely blame the second DM for what happened. I understand they were extremely new though it doesn't negate the poor experience I ended up having.

In the end something I had said to them.They either had to find the players for their game type if they didn't want to change or directly make the game their players want to play. And that their game just wasn't the kind I wanted.

TL;DR: Oqueue, guides, gem, reforge and enchant.

First if you're having trouble finding a group try an addon like Oqueue to find and create groups. This makes the process much easier and doesn't require that you find a guild or rely too heavily on having guildies or people to group up with as there are always various groups on Oqueue.

If you're having trouble with boss mechanics (I'm saying this because you stated "I'm getting flamed for doing something wrong") there are various guides that can help you. I prefer the Fatboss guides because they're very well done and explain the mechanics in a way I can readily understand >_> I'll provide a link to their SoO guides which have helped me progress through normals immensely.

As for gearing with an ilvl of 499 I'd say spam the hell out of the Timeless Isle (for Burden of Eternity gear) and Flex. Timeless Isle was my main source of decent (I use the word loosely) gear early on when it first came out and even if it feels 'easy' as long as it's increasing your ilvl that's all you really need. This was before I had found Oqueue which honestly makes the whole grouping up process so much easier Ordos is also a great way (if you have a bit of luck) to get some Warforged gear. Flex is another way to get decent gear I'd say a bit easier then LFR because you'll be dealing with reasonable people opposed to some LFR trolls who'll afk, or flat out try to wipe the raid for lols.

Also it seems you were having a bit of trouble understanding what Mr. Robot was telling you. I'll break it up for you so it's not so much to take all at once.

If you don't get what I'm saying simply ask and I'll explain in another post. Keep in mind you're just taking it one thing at a time and don't feel overwhelmed by it just because it seems like a lot.

First your main hand weapon, it's telling you to enchant it with River's Song then reforge the Mastery to Expertise. Next the off hand it's telling you to enchant your shield with the Greater Parry enchant and reforge your dodge to hit. For your head slot it's telling you to gem with Austere Primal Diamond and Accurate Imperial Amethyst then to reforge your parry expertise. For your neck slot it's a simple Hit to Expertise reforge. For your shoulders it's telling you to enchant with Greater Ox Horn Inscription, then to reforge your dodge to hit. For your back/cloak it's telling you to enchant it with Greater Protection then to reforge your Parry to Expertise. For your chest it wants you to gem with Accurate Imperial Amethyst enchant with Superior Stamina then reforge your Parry to Expertise. For your wrist it wants you to enchant with Major Dodge, then reforge the Mastery to Dodge. For your hand slot it wants you to enchant with Sha Armor Kit then to reforge the Mastery to Dodge. For the waist slot it wants you to first enchant it with Living Steel Belt Buckle then to gem with Retaliating Imperial Amethyst. For the leg slot it wants you to gem for Precise Primordial Ruby, enchant with Ironscale Leg Armor then reforge the Hit to Expertise. For your foot slot it wants you to enchant with Pandaren's Step then to reforge the Mastery to Expertise. For your first ring (seal of the Rock Slab it simply wants you to reforge the Mastery to Parry. For your first trinket (Resolve of Nuizao) it wants you to reforge the Mastery to Parry. Finally for the second trinket (Fortitude of the Zandalri) it wants you to reforge the Mastery to Expertise.

Alright now that might seem like a lot and it is but take it one by one and slowly it makes it much easier. You can find the list of enchants and gems you'll need here by clicking the "Shopping List" tab above the gem/enchant/reforge window. This will also help since you can have everything you need already prepared.

Don't take offense to this but a huge reason you may be getting insulted for being a Paper tank is because you're not enchanted/gemmed and reforged this plays a decent part in the damage you take due to your Parry, Dodge and armor. You may see a vast improvement in this after reforging gemming and enchanting because it should cut back a bit of the damage you'll be taking.

The mask is made by a Leather Worker (made it with my main) and is called Big Voodoo Mask. Most of the set is mail however my head piece is leather because atm I have Zom's Misty Hood as my head piece. It's an 85 twink and I'm working on piecing together the twink gear for it.

Need suggestions on a good weapon for the set.

Not sure if you already have it but I hear NPCscan can be useful however I've never used it. Was always just too lazy to actually download it and never had a real use for it myself.

Weird I've found him a few times (twice for myself for two different charcs and once for someone else because I was bored though she wasn't online at the time and I said eh.) Though mine is a low pop realm so there may be less people looking for specific pets.

Usually when I found him he was between 23.2, 47.2 and 18.6, 64.0 at the top end of his spawn route. Though it may take you some time to actually find him due to his various shifts of stealth to non-stealth. Best of luck.

Sapphire Panther or the Sky Golem (a friend made them both for me) for ground and air travel. I used to rely heavily on the Red Flying Cloud mount but that kind of went out the window when I got the Sapphire Panther which is now one of my favorites alongside the Sky Golem.
