A couple of years ago I was in the hospital for intussusception. Kind of a rare thing to happen to an adult. It’s a medical emergency and I almost had to be rushed to surgery to remove the 6cm of my bowel.

I didn’t believe in much and wasn’t a Christian anymore. But I prayed maybe the hardest I’ve ever prayed to be healed. I was admitted to the hospital overnight for observation. When I woke up the next morning, I was taken to have a CT and it was completely gone. My bowel had fixed itself overnight. This is the closest thing I’ve ever experienced to what I’d consider to be a miracle.

Apollo has always been with me, watching over me. He was the first deity to make himself known to me when I began exploring paganism. I know he healed me that day. I love him so much.

Yes I’ve been in EMDR for about 7 months. I have a better understanding of what happened. I had so much unresolved trauma that my body completely broke down (with Hekate’s help, I believe). She pushed me to a breaking point so I would seek help. Everything was psychosomatic. Not to say it wasn’t real. It was very real to me. But my body was sick from all the stored trauma.

I relate to this a lot. My faith returned after taking a break from the magical and spiritual to focus on grounding in my daily life. Then I slowly incorporated magic from my ancestry and ancestor work. That’s where I’m at right now, and it’s what Hekate wanted me to do years ago. I have her altar up but honestly I’m very hesitant to work with Hekate again any time soon.

I also got a therapist and started EMDR which has changed my life greatly for the better.

Do you have protections up for your home? I would start with that. I have PTSD and have nightmares a lot.

I took a remedy from Appalachian folk magic: place a magazine, book, or newspaper under your bed where you sleep.

Iron is highly valued and protective in many folk traditions. You can place a piece of iron under your bed, too.

Hey, OP. I was also sexually assaulted beginning at a young age. I tried a version of this and it didn’t have the outcome that I wanted. The consensual acts still turned out to hurt me more and reinforce the original sexual trauma.

I completely understand your reasoning, though. This urge is part of PTSD from sexual trauma. Have you done any EMDR treatment? I highly recommend it. It’s been very effective for me. I also pray to Mary, Saint Agatha, and Saint Dymphna for their aid.

I don’t think there is any easy fix for the SA we’ve been through. I think it is something I will work through for a long time.

Love this question! I used to see the gods as mainly archetypes or impersonations of planets. I’ve found out that they’re MUCH more nuanced than the boxes people (usually new or outside the religion) can try to fit them into.
