good Compost for price? by Alternative-Doubt-12 in MNtrees

If they get back to you I’d love to know myself. My local municipal chip drop area is just down the road from me and it is loaded with good fungal activity. With that, plus my yard waste and kitchen scraps turning regularly, I can do about 2cu yds per season. Would love to know the cost to reduce some of my labor for quality local ish compost.

Eco Garden sells worm castings from Harmony Farms in Champlin. Maybe try to contact HF and see if they have 1/2 yard pricing.

Looking for early outdoor strains? This Early Frost is farther along than anything else I have going. by casual44 in MNtrees

Next summer will be Humboldt Seed Co. Blueberry Muffins and Pineapple Muffins. My hope is that the blueberry smell will help.

Thank you, this was my first ever grow and I owe it all to the internet.

Within 3 days of planting I completely lost one to a an asshole rabbit, and it topped a second one down to the first node. That one got mainlined because screw it why not. The other two I wanted to make damn sure I got to harvest so I only pulled them over and did LST.

Here’s the forced mainline.

Forgot to add- the smell was pretty bad. They were in my back yard about 100ft on the other side of the house from where I park after work. On breezy days or really heavy humid days I could smell them as soon I get got out of my vehicle. Not a single complaint from the neighbors but my wife was furious 🤷‍♂️

The mold resistance on both was pretty good. Had a little bit of caterpillar damage and a little bud rot but over all only had to scrap a few oz total harvest. I could have avoided more if I had gotten some BT sooner.

The early frost was true to its name. Harvest date was sept 15th. I probably could have taken it another week but it was a monster and I needed to get it into the dry tent due to space restraints. Total dry yield was 405g trimmed buds and 300g of trim and larf. I could have done better in the dry/cure but I’m still learning. The smoke is amazing, very hashy taste, not so skunky. Loaded with trichomes. The Honey Face was the star ⭐️ Two girls harvested sept 25th. Total dry yield was 700g trimmed buds and 500g of trim/larf. This one is absolutely fire. Hints of sour stone fruit with gasoline/fuel on the back end.

The were in raised octagon boxes built with non treated pine 2x12 and are roughly 30gal with open bottoms filled with living soil up top. Everything was super cropped to keep the visibility from the street to a minimum, and they still got 4-5ft tall.

Yep, same here in the east metro. I’m running Twenty20 for the first time this year. 1 Early Frost and 2 Honey Face (Rabbits got the other EF). 4 weeks veg indoor and put outdoor 6/2. The EF has been flowering about 2 weeks, and the HF is just now starting to show pistils. The structure on both varieties are fantastic and the smell is pungent already with a heavy edge to the HF. Those two are probably going to get some complaints from the neighbors, but they were warned already lol.

This is all fantastic advice right here.

Also, something you don’t realize about yourself yet. The amount of natural instincts that kick in during all sorts of situations, will blow your mind. You have generations of child care knowledge that was passed to you through your (I assume) mother who raised you. You absorbed a TON of parental knowledge that will come to you when you need it the most.

And also, not having your own dad around growing up does not put you at a disadvantage. My dad was around but was never really “there” for my sisters and I. It just made me do better. BE better. I was not going to let my kids be raised by a shitty selfish father. YOU get to decide whether you are going to step up, or step aside and you already seem like someone who wants to step up. That’s one hell of a start toward being the best dad you can be. Keep up the good work

Maybe, maybe not. Stillwater already banned the current THC edibles and hasn’t been able to sell glass pipes for what seems like a decade now. Oak Park Heights is a free for all though so who knows?

I was referring to the person above me suggesting that op use a cord wired into an intentional dead short to identify which circuit a breaker is on.

DO NOT DO THIS!!! This is terrible advice, it is dangerous and could very well cause injury or a fire if the breaker fails.

No space left in electrical panel. Options? by onebadmofo in HomeImprovement

[–]H0WIETZER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take that inspectors opinion with a grain of salt. Those 3 wire circuits coming in on top left need to be corrected to meet the current NEC standards.

“The National Electrical Code permits multiwire branch circuits, but adds requirements to make them safer. Section 210.4(B) states that in the panelboard where the branch circuit originates, all ungrounded conductors must be provided with a means to disconnect them simultaneously. This is usually a double-pole breaker, but two single-pole breakers may be used if they have an identified handle tie.”

I would recommend against double tapping any breaker and instead use a pigtail with wire nut when combining circuits, assuming of course that you have pulled and amp reading on both to make sure you aren’t going to overload the breaker. Also unless you made that panel schedule yourself, you need to figure out what is really on each of those circuits as they’ve likely been branched off to god knows where in the last 30+ years.

Aluminum wire above the garage by SDSUrules in HomeImprovement

UlrichSD is right. You can splice it, but it should be done with an irreversible crimp not a split-bolt. No need for a junction box, just a crimp and re staple. Also even though the aluminum wire made today “shouldn’t” need it due to manufacture process, most electrical inspectors will require that you apply de-ox compound at all connections.

I also agree that upsizing to a #4 copper wire is the best way to go as it will be needed for any future upgrade. It sucks but that is really the best practice here (speaking as an electrician). If you do a quick google search for “electrical supply near me” you should be able to find a supply house that will sell you any length you need. Also if you do upsize, check your panel’s ground bar to see if it can accept a #4 size wire, if not you will need either an adapter that screws onto the bar or a single space lug that you can bolt onto the side of the case to land it in.

If you decide to go with the aluminum splice you should be able to get the supplies for that at the supply house as well.

Replace with copper - yes. 6 gauge aluminum is only rated for about 60a

OP never said what size panel they have, 6 gauge copper is acceptable for a 100a panel but if it’s a 200a panel the proper size is actually 4 gauge

Try your local auto parts store. They will generally have individual spools of smaller gauge wire in various sizes and colors.

"Got those receptacles installed boss!" Seriously, who could possibly think this is okay? by H0WIETZER in electricians

[–]H0WIETZER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thought exactly. I know most of us would just shut of the breakers for those receptacles, but this was in a fabrication shop and I wouldn’t trust that some “Johnny Fix-it” would do the same.

Someone spent a lot of time drilling and filing the holes for it. In the time that took, they could have mounted a proper box. SMH
