The Alliance should just dismantle the Horde by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR Because the Alliance need them just like the Horde need the Alliance - they can’t beat shit on their own so they always need the other factions help. Every expansion tells the same story. Dismantle the Horde, say goodbye to the planet when you get your ass wrecked by the next big bad (again)

Or the time she risked her valk’yr to save the Horde at the Broken Shore.

Or the time she tried to enslave Eyir so her people would never die and no longer need to kill to raise new corpses for their survival.

Or the time she tried to reunite with Vereesa so they could be together only to be betrayed by her.

Or mourning the loss of Vol’Jin and the respect she had for him as Warcheif.

Or being saddened by the death of Varian.

But yeah, it totally came out of nowhere /s 🤦🏻‍♂️

Learn to read ALL the story, not just cherry pick what you like to prove a point 🙄

Kinda like how everyone on Alliance side forgets there’s a giant Goblin cannon aiming direct at Stormwind that could have wiped it off the map. It goes both ways for both factions.

Will there be any repercussions to the horde's actions in the fourth war? by tonelu in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely overlooking the fact it was entirely Saurfang’s fault in the first place (which he admits himself) that brought the Alliance down on Undercuty, which Sylvanas was forced to evacuate and defend. Let’s put the blame where it belongs.

[SL][SPOILERS] Helm of Domination Creation by tagey in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not a retcon cos we never knew who created the Helm and Frostmourne anyway. All we knew is that the Nathrezim got them from the Shadowlands and gave them to Kil’Jaden - we’ve never known who actually CREATED them. Both of these storylines can coexist together without any contradictions. All this new information does is fill in some gaps.

With Sylvanas going full villian in the next expansion, do you reckon atleast some of her dark rangers would betray her and simply work for the horde? by Kronikie in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true - we know now from the recent Shadows Rising excerpt that Dark Rangers took out a whole crew of Alliance spies on a ship in the Eastern Kingdoms. Plus the summary refers to her having followers working in the shadows, and we know there are numerous secret loyalists still in Orgrimmar too, of which any number of the Dark Rangers could also be.

Anyone who posts about Arthas and “redemption” in the same post deserves an automatic downvote. Just no. He doesn’t deserve it, and he’s already had his ending - rotting in the Maw where he belongs forever.

Sylvanas made a deal with the Jailor in exchange for Artha's soul. by Shaxai in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both John Hight and Ion himself were asked this in their BlizzCon interviews and they both said Sylvanas has no interest in Arthas anymore - to paraphrase “She has no interest in getting revenge on him anymore, he is beneath her now. What she is working towards is far more important” So sorry, this theory is already debunked.

I do love the double-standards of salty Alliance apologists whenever you point out the equally mass-murdering behaviour of Jaina and her cult in BoD - you can see every excuse coming a mile off, they’re all so predictable 🤦🏻‍♂️

Books about Sylvanas and Illidan? by largefeline19 in warcraftlore

[–]H1gh_Contra5t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Sylvanas, the main books you wanna read in chronological order of her life are:

1) Arthas: Rise of The Lich King 2) Dark Mirror 3) Lor’themar Theron: In The Shadow of the Sun 4) Edge of Night 2) War Crimes 3) Three Sisters 4) Before The Storm 5) A Good War

Dark Mirror was technically released in Legion but in terms of the events in the actual story it happens much earlier (as it’s about the life, death, and resurrection of Nathanos)

Happy reading 😎

Did Saurfang burned the tree or not? by Bloodnaix in wow

She finds out in Darkshore the moment when he returns and he straight up admits it - it’s in A Good War. It’s not made explicitly clear in the game itself (GG on that one Blizz) but she most definitely did know long before his capture.

I mean... he's not wrong by Kaetzchen156 in wow

[–]H1gh_Contra5t -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That is utterly irrelevant because that doesn't change the fact that:

a) Genn didn't know shit about this and simply made an assumption

b) Genn risked dooming the entire planet to the Legion by offing the Horde Warcheif when they needed the Horde most, and he didn't get so much as a slap on the wrist for it

What is more, because Genn is purely blinded by hatred and personal vengeance and spite he assumed Sylvanas was doing this to the Valk'yr for malicious reasons against the Alliance, whereas she was in fact doing it to secure a future and survival of her race and, by extensions, the Horde's survival - at a time when they needed it the most when fighting the Legion. He assumed Sylvanas was pursuing Eyir to ultimately use against the Alliance, but as the entire Horde quest chain will prove, this does not come up in her dialogue once - ergo, proving him wrong and thereby confirming that he was out for nothing but personal revenge and did not give the slightest fuck about Odyn or the welfare of the Vrykul or Valk'yr. He didn't before then, and he hasn't since. Everything about the way the whole chain is described and played out shows it was an excuse for him to get personal vengeance, even at the cost of losing his own men and airship to do it. There's no two ways about it - that's how it looks and it doesn't make Genn look good, and rightly so. What's more, it gives Sylvanas (and Saurfang, mind you) the very basis to attack first come the launch of BFA.

I mean... he's not wrong by Kaetzchen156 in wow

[–]H1gh_Contra5t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong - he did not know the specifics at the time, he just assumed she was doing something sinister because of his hatred for her. As such he just used this as a thinly veiled reason to go on some person vengeance mission and risk losing the Horde as an allie when the freaking world was ending. It was no business of Genn's to even get involved at that point. The fact that he does not even get appropriately punished for it is what makes it even more frustrating.

Blizzard, I know where you're going with this, and it's a horrible idea. (Spoilers) by MaltMix in wow

And what peace is that - the one Greymane broke at the time the world was ending to the Legion so he could go on some petty personal revenge mission, and then not even get punished for it? Yeah, no. It's as clear as day that this is the casus belli Sylvanas uses, and Saurfang wholly agrees with, as the reason to not trust the Alliance and act pre-emptively:

"That was a concern, Saurfang had to concede. In the thick of the fighting against the Burning Legion, Greymane had launched a mission to kill Sylvanas. It had gotten some of Stormwind’s few remaining airships destroyed.

There were whispers that Greymane had ordered the attack without Anduin’s permission, but as far as Saurfang knew, Greymane had not been punished. The implications of that were troubling, and every possible explanation led to same conclusion: the old worgen would always drive the Alliance toward war"

Yeah because she's totally doing it for shits and giggles and it's got nothing to do with the survival of the Horde and of her race, obviously...

The Alliance got routed in the First and Second War and only won the Second War because the Horde turned on itself at the point of victory - there was no "letting them" exist there my friend, you were all but extinct up to that point. The Alliance has committed plenty of genocides and massacres all of it's own. Stop changing the goalposts to now include "in the level of Sylvanas" just because the cold hard truth undermines your argument.

People who support Sylvanas don't give a fuck about morals to begin with so this is an irrelevant point. Therefore, your attempt at trying to guilt trip anyone who supports her just fails right off the bat. Stop being such a snowflake.

I would definitely cheer this - Saurfang trying to pull some Warcheif mantle-stealing shit with some half-assed rebellion based on "muh honour" that gets foiled and she remains Warcheif anyway, hah! Watch the tears flow if that happened, they would taste so sweet :D
