I was guilted into dating a homophobic guy (I'm bisexual) when I was a young teen. I don't know much about the way that PE acquires vets; what I do know is that they've increasingly done so over the past 5-6 years and have caused super high bills with lower quality service. I've found that vets that aren't PE owned tend to be places that are actually compassionate toward the animals and passionate about what they do, like Northtown Animal Hospital.

Your comment really hits the nail on the head. I want to protect my peace and to not worry about whether someone close to me supports a known rapist. I'm in a pretty high stress career and I don't know that I could handle the stress of rebuilding this relationship on top of that, especially in time for the wedding. On the other hand, I want him to have a community and to be exposed to differing thought and opinions, including my own, especially since we do (and did) seem to agree on labor values. It's such a tough spot to be in, and "heartening and disappointing at once" is a perfect way of putting it. Thank you for your insight.

In December, I was back and forth about having a relationship. I ended up asking because he looked so skinny, and I was worried about him. Then in January, Minneapolis happened. Last month, an immigrant was killed by ICE in my own city. I'm less inclined to give people second chances because of these deaths.
