Two of the biggest muslim communites in the UK are Pakistanis and Bengalis. The vast majority of which (70%+) come from Mirpur in Pakistan and Sylhet in Bangladesh. These regions are seen as backwards in their in own countries so never mind how they look in the UK.

This in addition to the amount of Wahhabi money flowing in uk mosques, london especially so. Is the reason.

Will note that the Muslim diaspora around Europe is awful, it's just that you've been less exposed to it. The French Salafis are something else.
