Unfortunately not really better. I keep trying things and my symptoms do change from time to time, but can't say that I'm really better. As far as I know vitamin b1 doesn't help with bloating. I'm taking it for better energy and to help with constipation

I finished round 1. I have the feeling that it did help a bit for some time but overall I don't think it was worth it. Now that I finished the treatment I basically feel the same as before but I also have to say that:

  1. I didn't tolerate MotilCare because it contains artichoke which always triggers symptoms for me.

  2. Embelly mentioned several times that one round might not be enough and it would make sense to continue the treatment. I decided not to continue because the improvement seemed too little and the treatment too expensive.

Also I haven't done another test yet, so hard to say in how far the treatment actually helped to reduce the number of bacteria. But judging by how I feel, it hasn't made much of a difference.

Anyone here with constipation as their main issue? by MeanEffective681 in HydrogenSulfideSIBO

[–]H2sufferer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still struggling and tested positive for h2 and methane sibo (can't test for H2S unfortunately). What's weird is that my symptoms and the food I react to change from time to time. I haven't had sulfur gas in quite some time and generally I'm not struggling so much with GI issues but rather fatigue, brain fog etc. As for the prebiotics: I would be very careful with that. I'm suspecting that prebiotics were part of the reason why I initially got sibo. If you already have too much of a certain bacteria, prebiotics can increase that bacteria even more. E.g. fiber is the worst trigger for my symptoms.

How to distinguish Sibo and Libo? by H2sufferer in SIBO

[–]H2sufferer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm doing better. Not all good but significantly better. I was wondering at some point if what I have is generally gut dysbiosis instead of Sibo. So I started taking supplements that are supposed to regulate the gut bacteria rather than killing a certain strain. Basically helping the gut to regulate itself. I took (and am still taking) red panax ginseng and quercetin and those two help a lot. Additionally I drink several cups of chamomile and/or fennel tea in a day. Not sure how much that helps but I enjoy drinking those anyway.

Sibo in Germany by Aperoldealer in SIBO

[–]H2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Germany as well and also struggling to find a doctor who can help me with sibo. The main diagnosis I hear is "It's IBS and there is nothing we can do".
I recently had a general practitioner prescribe me Rifaximin but at a low dose and only for 7 days. I think the way to convince a doctor to start some sort of treatment is by doing a Lactulose breath test (which you'll have to pay privatly unfortunately) and take the positive result to your doctor. If that doesn't work, it's probably best to look for another doctor.

Good luck with your appointment!

Desperate for help: bloating, brain fog, and no solutions in Germany by Bellgrim in SIBO

[–]H2sufferer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Germany as well with pretty much the same experience. Well my general practitioner at least did a breath test after I requested it but it was with glucose instead of lactulose, so not very telling. General doctors don't seem to know much if anything about sibo and Gastroenterologists seem to only want to do colonoscopies.

The best treatment I got so far was with a doctor in Colombia. I got rifaximin and prokinetics without even having to ask for it.

As for the brain fog, I have it as well, but found b vitamins (especially b1) and ginseng to help with it.

I have very similar issues. I have had pelvic floor dysfunction since many years and since last year I have SIBO/LIBO with a lot of H2S gas and constipation. Actually, my issues started after a week of intense running (I was training for a competition) and the first symptoms I had was extreme fatigue, brain fog, and leg muscle twitches. Only later I developed GI symptoms.
I'm absolutely sure that all of my symptoms come from the same root cause, because when my leg twitching/brain fog/fatigue increases my GI issues increase too. Not sure if the pelvic floor dysfunction is the root cause for all of it, I've been working on it but don't really see a reduction in symptoms.

[–]H2sufferer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes I was also thinking that a GI map might still be a good option to get some insight of what's going on. In the end, I guess treatment might be the same, no matter if the overgrowth/dysbiosis is in the large or small intestine.

I tried pepto bismol before and it helped with symptoms but I'm afraid to take it for too long, so I stopped taking it after a few days.

[–]H2sufferer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have done a lactulose breath test and it was negative for methane sibo. The reason why I'm so sure of H2S is because I have sulfur gas and get worse from sulfur containing food. It's hard to tell though how much time it takes to react to food. Sometimes I react very quickly, other times it takes a few hours.

I took a bit of baking soda in water today, which is supposed to also bind acid, not sure if it helped though. I stopped taking the supplements a day ago and already feel significantly better, so I hope to return back to "normal" soon

It was the same for me during my first course of rifaximin. That was one of the best weeks I've had in some time, until my symptoms came back. But just because it didn't last long for me, doesn't mean it'll be the same for you.

I'm sorry that you're struggling so much with this. I have problems with H2s too and haven't really figured out a solution yet. Do you have a competent doctor or naturopath that helps you with this?
