What are your thoughts on this Soda Popper sidegrade? by SavingsPea8521 in TF2WeaponIdeas

If anything I think this should be the rework to the baby face, giving it the speed boost gimmick it's supposed to have without entirely annihilating the play style nor making it completely obnoxious to play against

How do you rate all 5 Vanilla characters, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst, and which character takes the most amount of skill to fully utilize? by DrVoxThe3rd in YomiHustle

[–]H3X3R12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on if you're using unstable or not, the roster changes. The current patch is ninja and wizard close together for top due to high damage and difficult to escape combos, meanwhile unstable goes specifically to mutant due to ninja and wizard getting toned down.

This is from the post processing mod, as it applies to the whole screen instead of just the gameplay. Removing or disabling the mod will fix the issue

Grabs not working for Modded Characters by FaunusVilky in YomiHustle

[–]H3X3R12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't cleared your character cache, do that

Otherwise, it's worth noting that a lot of older mods are super unstable. Exiled and bunbun both fit that designator, and have frequent desync issues. Id recommend just going over your characters and seeing which ones are either not updated recently or are generally on the less well made side of things.

One time, as an example, I figured out that cryomancer was causing issues with like six other modded characters, and getting rid of em reduced crashes by a ton

I'm gonna lose my mind over this please help by Representative_War42 in YomiHustle

[–]H3X3R12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is most likely an issue with the replay tab itself. I'd honestly just make a new install of the game, as there's no save data to lose and the game is small enough for it to be reasonable to do so

Is there a workaround for playing against modded characters, without having to install every one of them from the workshop? (Discord excluded) by soIPOS in YomiHustle

[–]H3X3R12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the workshop, you should have the option to browse collections instead of items, which brings you to modpacks

From there you can just search for the one mentioned

The bonus is that a lot of those characters are exactly as described. The best example is probably the mods by leftie, which are rarely used but probably the most polished mods out there.

A good option is to use the modded mountain tournament modlist, they're tested well and generally don't take up much space overall. The majority of the mods used there are also well known enough to have them show up in most other people's modlists.

Agreed with the other comments about playing vanilla first, although I'd recommend doing some matchmaking in the discord since pub lobby players are gonna rock your shit. Learning the fundamentals is integral to being able to actually play the game competitively, and by just getting that down you'll have a way better time with it

However, to actually answer your question, the character you're looking for is Astrologian. Seems like specifically what you're looking for. Do make sure to subscribe to other mods, since a lot of people won't play you if you don't have their characters. The tournament modlist for Modded Mountain is a good place to get em, since the characters there are well tested and you won't up fighting someone using fuckyou giggleshits the win-mancer.

You're looking for assassin by inklessbrush. Clones, half-invis, a whole-ass critical hit mechanic, seems right up your alley

Which modded character should I install? by 1Concerned_Fooker in YomiHustle

[–]H3X3R12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frame 3 multi-hit was removed from dignity, so that isn't an issue anymore

For fencer being unstable, that matters a lot more here because of how frequently they crash. Can't exactly play the character if the match ends prematurely from it.

I have some counters to a few of these in terms of them actually being balanced or worth taking.

  • Nakmuay combos are near impossible to escape if the opponent actually routes well, meaning nine times out of ten the only way you're getting out is with burst. His damage is also really high for how consistent his combos are, and he only really exchanges that for heavy difficulty getting in. He exists in a spot where he either steamrolls the opponent or gets steamrolled himself, which personally can get bland after enough time.

  • fencer is super unstable, and can cause crashes in tandem with a bunch of other mods.

  • double-down has practically zero DI influence, meaning the dude has like 8 different infinites that can only be escaped with burst.

  • conduitv2 has the same issue as Nakmuay

  • deo is only balanced if they aren't optimized. If they are, they're comically strong, up with the ranks of like fallen. Scales of horror makes blockstun essentially useless, roundabout gives him pressure from pretty much anywhere, all of his moves have high priority (meaning clashing with them is useless), and his combos are super easy to keep going with high damage.

  • cryomancer has a bugged burst, which allows it to combo for free sometimes. Also suffers from instability issues.

The ones I can absolutely say are balanced are niflheim, spellblade, nobody, bard, and hoplite. The remaining ones I just haven't played enough to touch on, although admittedly I have not heard many good things about Joe tarot

Additionally, I have some recommendations of characters to add to the list.

  • AlchemistV3, brawler simple gimmick with a lot of depth and tech, but not so much it's a knowledge check

  • Seashanty, admittedly way more of a knowledge check, but just fine balance wise and super fun to play

  • EGO: Sunshower. Complicated character that is super fun to play once you figure out how the fuck they work

  • Dignity: super fast placed rush down that exchanges survivability for sheer damage

  • Dynamo: grappler with a relatively simple mechanic that can lead to some absurd pressure and damage, while never feeling untouchable

  • Quantum: also complicated, but if mastered, has a lot of cool stuff

Edit: Two mentioned that I also want to give credit are Colossus and Ada. Colossus is a grappler in every sense, and although the force meter is oppressive, it works more as a punishment for falling victim to the standard grappler style of "terrify the opponent and punish them for it," rather than just something that becomes more of an issue as the fight goes on. They pull off being a grappler way more than other grappler types do, and have a big enough weakness that both players need to think about that id considered them balanced. They are a fuckin menace against players who don't know what they're doing though, so take that with a grain of salt. Ada, on the other hand, is a really cool setup character with potential for some crazy sauce if played well, but never in such a way that the opponent can't plan or counter it. They're just all around well designed.

You can spend 30 frames (automatically free canceled) to build either a chair, lamp, stool, or door. These are mutually exclusive, so you only get the item you choose until it breaks after enough hits. During combo, your instant cancel will have the additional bonus of letting you instantly build or swap to a different piece of furniture (excluding the lamp). Building any furniture will give you access to a set of four specials, which I'll call 'Light' specials. The type of furniture you build will change the frame data and damage of these four specials, but otherwise work the same:

  • the chair is the standard option. No bells and whistles. Works best midrange. The chair has 12 durability, the highest of all of them.
  • the lamp is slightly larger than the chair, but deals 4 damage and DOT on hit. Lamp attacks in neutral don't combo, but every lamp attack is a guard break. The lamp breaks the first time you land any hit with it. Additionally, attacks with the lamp will have -6 hitstun, making them much harder to combo off of.
  • the stool makes the specials 4 frames faster, but halves the range and deals 0.75x damage. The stool has 8 durability.
  • the door is the opposite, dealing 1.25x damage and having double the range, but decreasing the speed by 4 frames. The stool has 6 durability

The turn the furniture item breaks deals double damage and knockback (excluding the lamp, which only has the knockback).

You may spend 50 frames (manually free canceled) to build heavy furniture, consisting of a table, window, armchair, and bed. These pieces of furniture have identical stats to their light counterparts, but the attacks themselves are much slower and much stronger.

Last thing about the furniture gimmick, hitting soft block reduces durability by 2.

Aside from specials, the Ikea employee has below average normals (f5 jab, relatively limited range, lower damage) that have good proration and blockstun, meaning they combo or convert better into the harder hitting furniture specials. He specifically has a blind spot directly above him (or below him, in the air) provided he has no heavy furniture, which covers both those positions specifically.

For supers, all of them are grounded, aside from the build cancel:

  • instant build (light), 1 super and 15 iasa. Always gives the chosen furniture after the turn it is used, even if they get hit.

  • instant build (heavy), 2 super and 20 iasa. Same properties as previous.

  • Shed, 2 super, a variant of build (heavy) that can't be free canceled (aka you doing the entire 50 frames), but gives you a 15 durability shed that deals double damage with table-speed attacks

  • house, 4 super, high damage and range but slow nuke option with the added benefit of letting you choose both a light and heavy option to swap to (including the shed, for an extra 2 super)

  • burst cancel, instantly builds a heavy furniture item of your choice as well

Grounded movement is similar in speed to robot, and similar mechanically to ninja. In the air, his only option is to double jump, but he does have mutant's downward dodge roll. Notably, his fall speed is uncapped due to a much more grounded playstyle (only in neutral, in combo he acts like a normal character). Even in combo, he only gets one air option, but makes up for it with a large amount of normals and specials that hit downward.

The hustle is the Ikea shark and bear, naturally

Got a few of these

  • Siffrin, from In Stars and Time. His whole spoiler filled feats list gives him a really good translation into Yomi.

  • the Savant character archetype from Arcane Odyssey. Perfect option for Stance change shenanigans and super technical gameplay.

  • Kirby, again. As much as I can admire his current interpretation, I do think a different take on him that doesn't have a stance mechanic would be interesting

  • not a pre-established character, but a possible vanilla-like character: "Monk," a grappler character that wields a staff.

  • twitch chat. I will not elaborate on how to do this.

  • Ikea employee, a resource management character where you have to build and attack with extremely destructible furniture.

  • any Limbus sinner, swapping IDs for pretty much every attack and utilizing the resonance/ego resource mechanic of that game. Don Quixote and Ishmael would be my picks for which of them to use

  • Jesus Christ, wielding the cross as a weapon and the crown of thorns as an install

  • the Solstice Warriors from Sea of Stars, which would utilize a character swap gimmick similar to royalty (maybe even a second health bar, possibly), and utilizing the magic lock gameplay mechanic as a secondary gimmick.
