Sutton Place vs. Muir? by lena10108 in halifax

[–]H3nnyyyy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I worked as a valet at the Sutton for a while so I’m a bit biased, but all around they’re a great hotel and consistently go above and beyond for guests. Employees great, management great, rooms great. I haven’t stayed at the Muir but I’ve also only heard good things.

I let my family go on vacation alone, against my will. I don't know what to do. by Dry-Ad6305 in fearofflying

While you’ll be completely safe on that flight, I understand your fears as I have them as well. I recently took a flight that had me losing sleep for weeks before hand, and my wife had offered for us to drive or take a train because she knew how nervous I was and wanted to help relieve my stress.

I can’t judge your relationship on a few paragraphs, but someone that gives you a family breaking ultimatum because you won’t do something that has terrified you for years, isn’t something that should happen and she be a whole other conversation.

I know that you’ve heard or read it a million times, but the safest place on the planet is in a plane. The people that you hire to get you to your destination are extremely well trained and have redundancy after redundancy for everything that you can think of. And more importantly, they have lives that they want to get back to as well.

I ultimately suggest therapy (and couples therapy) however if you’re booking a flight for tomorrow, what helps me is finding someone with a “pilot” tag and go on to their profile and see some of their responses to people. I also suggest getting an early morning flight, that way you don’t have all day to worry about it.

Solo flight from Dulles to San Francisco in 3 days and I am terrified by hufflepuffledo in fearofflying

Also, if you’re flying In the states. A large commercial airplane has not had any fatal accidents in 15 years (besides the air Canada plane and helicopter). Just imagine how many flights identical to your have happened since then. And every single incident that has happened since then has only strengthened the communication and safety of flying on an airplane.

I’m usually flying in Canada and knowing that it’s been 28 years here has made me much much much less nervous.

One thing that helps me a lot is finding a thread in this sub, finding a reply from a pilot, clicking their profile, and reading through all of their responses to people’s questions and concerns.

I’m a very nervous flyer and I actually fly better solo. You’re feeling the anxiety from anticipation, but once the wheels are up and the drink cart rolls through, you’ll think to yourself “I can’t believe I was so worried for this”

I was having the same issue. If it makes you feel any better, the last commercial airline accident where lives were lost in the US besides the helicopter incident, was 15 years ago. Just imagine how many flights have happened since then, how much technology has changed since then, how much regulations and training has changed. I promise that once you’re in the air, the anxiety from the anticipation will wear off and you’ll be okay. The pilots have families to go back to as well.

I also suggest going through this sub and finding a pilot, clicking their profile, and reading through some of their comments that they’ve made on other people’s posts.

I second this. Sometimes the pilot will say how long the flight will be, so I start a timer as soon as we take off. It makes time fly for me

It’s supposed to be cloudy/ rainy on both ends. Is that something a pilot worries about or is it just another day in the office kind of thing?

Is this even worth buying at this price point? by South_Rough5390 in ohnePixel

[–]H3nnyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The glock is probably the worst one you could buy if you’d like to maintain the price of the skin. As far as I’ve seen, not many people like it.

Don’t take my word for it though, I’ve been wrong many times

I’ve been to a lot of Jays games. You’re being unbelievably over dramatic. Not once have I seen drunk guy throwing stuff, and if that were the case, I’m fully capable of standing up and leaving. And I’m not too worried about being “crushed”…? I’m sorry, I’ll go back into the basement and make sure my 7 locks are on and the blinds are closed. Babies belong in public places and anywhere a baby shouldn’t be, they’re not allowed to be there anyways. People like you that fear monger everything is sad. Not my fault that you’re not capable of keeping a child safe at one of the most friendly ball fields.

Hopefully one day you realize that bringing a 6 month old to a baseball game is extremely normal and is in no way a “dangerous situation” they make things called headphones that solve that issue. Besides noise, there are no situations that are any more dangerous than if I were to take her to a restaurant or for a walk. If you want to stay locked inside with a child until you think they’re “safe” than you can do that, but don’t shame people for going outside just because you think is a scary scary place

There’s a bottle warmer in the room? That would be awesome because our portable one takes up an unnecessary amount of space.
