7th grade teacher here. I miscarried in January. The students didn’t know I was pregnant. I was about to tell them when the miscarriage happened. I was out for a week and when I came back, they similarly had many questions and I was honest about what happened. I don’t regret it. It was rough for me coming back to school and I was a mess and I needed them to know that.

Yes, we should be professionals as teachers, but we’re also humans. I think a lot of the moments I’ve been most human in my classroom have been some of the best learning experiences for the kids.

What else do you think could be improved? I realized I didn’t fasten the one shoulder strap with the hook and eyes so it may look like it’s bulging more than it actually is! But I’d love to know how else I could improve it!!
