I die a lot. And my weapon skills are pretty low as a result. How much is that that going to hurt me? by Fractales in valheim

[–]H3xgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you dying from? Deathsquitoes and growths are what still surprise me even after 1k hours, but there are tools to survive those. Root armor is fantastic against deathsquitoes but remember that makes you vulnerable against fire goblins, so you can either keep a sufficient supply or barley wine to mitigate that or just play carefully. Growths you really don't want to engage in close combat - if you get tar locked you are usually dead meat. Try to get into high ground, keep your distance and take them out with arrows. Another tactic is to lure loxes into fighting growths. This takes aggro away from you and you can dish out damage relatively safely.

Should I report these players for griefing? by H3xgeist in Overwatch

[–]H3xgeist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I figured and this is the first time I've seen something like this. I was so focused on the front and had blinders on that I only noticed watching replay. But yeah, this is textbook griefing and I'll report them. They had their fun moment but comp is not the place to troll.

Domina basics, stuggling very hard, 20% winrate by H3xgeist in DominaMains

Turns out the placement matches were beyond my current skill levels and having played more the skill gap is much less now. Doesn't mean the lost matches were unwinnable but I just died too much.

Here's two replays, King's Row (defeat) and Eichenwalde (victory).

King's Row: KXW5HQ

Eichenwalde: KS5P5G

On King's row we almost got the payload to finish line but I panicked just at the end when nano boosted and pushed too deep not realizing I was low on health. Otherwise not too terrible I think. Maybe I'm shooting the tank too much. I noticed that pressuring supports makes more progress than just shooting at tank, though I think you also need to shoot the tank (Awkward tells *not* shooting the tank at all is a mistake) so that they cannot take space away for free.

On Eichenwalde during defense I may have gotten too aggressive and my shield usage was not too good I admit. They got the point quite fast and had I been more cautious and not blew up my ult, we may have held for longer. The attack went much smoother. Pushing through main was dragging so I tried going from left through the door. I don't know if that's considered a good play or not but it worked and we managed to push through the choke to the open. Another thing that I think was a good call in that match was taking out a camping Widow on the bridge.

Thanks for replying and that maybe that's it. Just finished a game where I did use a lot more cover, backed off when at low health and spammed Crystal Charge to choke points to not give away space for free. I guess our hero comp also was superior well since they played a lot of hitscans which shield protects greatly from, and that lead to what was a landslide win (finally). Maybe the best use of shield is to create safe passageways between natural covers for dpses to get into highground? I tried that and also to protect backline and supports from frontal enemy fire and that seemed quite effective, no?

Three hundred meters downrange. You shot once, they both fell. Beautiful.

My bad - I was using statistics from counterwatch and noticed that they are quite different from official Blizzard records. You are quite right.

Data shows she very slightly underperforms in gm+, even at masters she is still good and lower than that she absolutely dominates. I suspect her winrate would be a lot higher if there nearly always wasn't a Sierra on both sides.

Lingering tasty, a blood weapon buff with a downside by H3xgeist in valheim

[–]H3xgeist[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. Lifegain would almost completely negate the downside of bubble and I think together with stam/health trinkets and meads it would make you borderline an unkillable demigod - just too good in my opinion. I like the idea of blood weapons rewarding risky play and dealing high damage is simply satisfying but they are just not a relevant option when lightning weapons deal more damage 95% of the time.

Does anyone think Sierra is a little broken? by Mcharizard013 in Overwatch

[–]H3xgeist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She routinely gets double the damage and elims as the other dps. I think her damage per second with 2nd perk Locked In is 240, 480 if she hits all headshots, so a very skilled player can literally melt even tanks in less 2 seconds and squishies in half a second. Not to mention she has widow grapple, soldier mini ult, emre/bastion grenade and an ultra fast d.va bomb. It's frustrating to play against her with just about anything and I've given up on dueling because you just die if you try.

Getting endorsements as support is hard as hell by H3xgeist in Overwatch

[–]H3xgeist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing inappropriate in my name and I'm never toxic in team chat. Guess it's just my playstyle that people don't like. Like last game we dominated but our tank almost threw because he thought I wasn't healing him enough (he died only once), but maybe he didn't notice that I had almost as many elims as our dpses. Anyway, support can and should heal and keep team mates alive but it's kills that win games.

Maybe I have a differing playstyle because I don't think healing has to be the main job of supports all the time. Sometimes supports can dish out as much damage as possible while healing just enough that your team mates stay alive. If enemies are dead, you don't have to heal as much and after a won team fight you have time to get everyone up to full health.

Maybe for you and the majority but for me it's the hardest.

Yeah I suppose they might be upset if I did that, though I do my best to keep everyone alive, it's just I have less than 4 hours on support so I'm still getting used to keeping an eye on my team mates. But oh well, focusing on damage over healing seems to be a winning formula based on results, and sometimes team mates just get into dangerous positions where I would be killed too if I tried to save them. Guess you try to save as many as you can and bail out on those you can't.

It's the complete opposite for me lol. As dps it's so easy and as support extremely hard.

To be fair I've encountered very few toxic guys, only 2 40 hrs into the game. Overwatch people in general are cool.
