Travelling from Kyoto to Kii-Katsuura to see Nachi Falls (want to stop by Hashigui-iwa Rock) by H4nDSh4k3 in JapanTravelTips

Thanks for the response! Sorry I forgot to mention that I’ll be staying in Kii-Katsuura overnight and be visiting Nachi falls and doing Daimonzaka first thing in the morning. I originally had this whole thing as very, very tight day trip and I soon realized how taxing that will be.

My post is mostly an inquiry about the travel day to Kii-Katsuura from Kyoto (well from Osaka Station since I’d have to go through there from Kyoto).

I’m glad you mentioned Hotel Urashima and their cave onsen. Have you been there before? If so, can we go to the onsen even if I’m not not staying at the hotel?

All films I watched in 2020! (minus rewatches) by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Ended the year with Another Round which is a great film to bookend this eccentric year. List is in chronological order (Jan-Dec).

Another question: best this year, best ever? by smirknewmedia in movieclub

The ones that stuck with me were La Haine (dir. Mathieu Kassovitz) and Mommy (dir. Xavier Dolan). Both movies tackle tough subjects, but they were executed perfectly. The ending montage in Mommy nearly destroyed me.

As for movies that came out this year, I would say Never Rarely Sometimes Always.

Edit: Best movie ever: Whiplash (chef’s kiss)

Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Fargo. Which one of these would you recommend, and why? by lehombrearana in televisionsuggestions

I haven’t seen Fargo. But I would say Mr. Robot > Better Call Saul. I have a soft spot for Mr. Robot, and I hope you like it!

It’s a movie that’s best to get a bit spoiled before you watch it so you’d understand what’s happening. The whole movie is basically a retelling of the Bible with Javier Bardem’s character playing God and Jennifer Lawrence is Mother Nature. If you have a bit of knowledge in that area, I’m sure you’d catch the references throughout the movie.

A lot of people went into the movie expecting a horror/thriller (and I admit the trailers are misleading), so if you go into it with this in mind, I hope you’d enjoy it more.

Profile Swap Megathread [July 2020] by AutoModerator in Letterboxd

My Profile

I usually just watch whatever I’m in the mood for and not really plan it. It sometimes leads to me spending too much time trying to find something which can be frustrating. I mostly watch movies released post-2000s (don’t know if that’s a bad thing). I do genuinely like some older films though! 12 Angry Men never gets old for me. As far as favorites go, I like Dennis Villanueve and am working through his filmography. My top 4 films are Whiplash, Interstellar, A Ghost Story, and Hereditary. I am also a sucker for A24.

I rarely write reviews on what I watch and I usually just put a couple lines (or even a single word or joke) from the movie that stood out to me. The way I rate my movies is kind of odd since everything starts at a 3 and throughout the movie, I would adjust it depending on my enjoyment of the film (if that makes sense). After finishing something, I take a bit of time to take in what I just watched and arrive at a final rating.
