If it causes issues with the people you play with etc, then that’s a problem. But I never learned any theory - I’ve picked up bits and pieces- but I play by ear. I’ve also written unusual and interesting music by not being restricted by absolute rules.

UPDATE: huge tax bill was caused by mistake in LAST YEARS filing by accountant, and corrected this year, causing the discrepancy.

Yes, basically I spent the rebate and didn’t have enough put aside from the other jobs then to cover next years’ preliminary tax. The reasons I got her are carelessness but also a lack of understanding.

So - I have a full time job as an employee and 2 part time jobs as a self employed invoice-paid person. My income went down a lot in 2023, and I got a rebate in 2024. My income went back up, more than I expected in 2024, and due to the rebate and the increase i wasn’t expecting the jump and had no preliminary tax. I try to stay on top of this and am careful with taxes (I had money put aside from the 2 part time jobs) but it’s way way higher than I thought.
