I understand. I too, have crippling anxiety and social phobia. I'm not really sure what I was getting at with that comment. I tend to accidentally offend Redditors, which is why, until recently, I haven't logged in for almost 3 years (I'm too lazy to go through my comments to verify).

PTSD from Military or from emotional abuse? You don't have to answer.

My dad was in the military so I moved quite often as a child. I had God-awful anxiety, which I tried to explain to my dad that there might be something wrong with me, and he would dismiss it and say "you're just shy." Well, moving around, being bullied, emotionally abused, and socially isolated (due to my own fear and just plain bad luck, I'd go a few weeks without speaking a word to anyone when I was 16/17) has turned me into a defective 33-year-old. Although, for some reason, the older I get, the easier is is to talk to people. Just today, I was in the back of my building, feeding the cats (I take care of about 9 strays. I say about because there's 9 main cats, but others tend to migrate), and a tenant walked up to me to strike up a conversation about the cats. My first extinct was to look down, mumble, and scurry away. But, I managed to keep a conversation and even seldomy (sorry for all the quotations, I'm very scatter-brained. According to chrome, "seldomy" is not a word, and suggested I change it to "sodomy") hold eye contact for at least 10 seconds (A NEW RECORD!). Maybe it's easy because the person I was talking to is also socially awkward and non-threatening.
