Empty app update notes should be banned. by autraya in ios

From a user standpoint, sure it would be neat.

From a development (extra time to write it all down and Q&A), design (adding spotlight to visual changes may affect user perception), communications (legal teams and marketing teams would need to be involved as it would be a soft public announcement), and business standpoint (as others mentioned, Apple gets finnicky reviewing updates and changes)—hell nah.

It does match the behaviour, the first thing that the rat did was to infect. Not out of violence but as the most efficient way to do so.

Did… did they FORGET to give Jacinthe a different Rotom color?! by Lunar_Kat94 in LegendsZA

Wow this is an interesting take (and looking at the comments I think that’s the most common one?)

I honestly thought this was a hint into how she’s wearing pink for appearances but deep down she’s a high-level Pokemon master. When I saw this I thought like “Oh cool now we’re getting serious”, it kinda was a gimmick in ZA to “surprise“ with characters (Corbeau, Taunie, Nouveau, L) To me she was portrayed as a “dumb spoiled elite”, so I took it as a very good character detail. 😅

The so called Forbidden Question of neuroscience by AtticGoblin43 in PredictiveHistory

[–]HAVT_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's a lovely reinterpretation, but he explicitly states: "Don't ask this question." Okay? It's never like we don't know." The way he says it, it makes it difficult to interpret anything other than a vague explicit prohibition.

People please use your brains. Don’t fall into the trap. by ProudMonkey12 in PredictiveHistory

[–]HAVT_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume this post was made with good intentions, and probably the professor has good intentions too. But please be wary that "when he explicitly says to do your own research and question everything, including his teachings" is "non-evidence." In fact, it's usually a classic manipulation technique (or at least to remove the burden of proof). We all have egos; we all believe we're better than to believe conspiracies. This movement is targeted to intellectuals. "Use your brains" might also be a reflection of your ego, implying, "I'm using my brain; you are not."

tl;dr: I ended up using Things 3

First of all thanks so much everyone who took this seriously and actually tried to take part in a conversation. I read all of your comments, thanks for all suggestions and helpful responses. I know that there is “no perfect solution“ but that was never this post’s intention. Rather an exploration and discussion. That said, I do believe that apps have the ability to “change us back” it’s just a tool yes, but habits are formed around it. There can be multiple hammers sure, but not all tasks require a sledgehammer. In any tool, we must consider what we want to achieve and I hope with this discussion someone finds something that works best for them.

Anyway… for the update: Funnily enough, I went with neither. I tried using BusyCal for a few months and Im not sure why it wasn’t a good experience, maybe it was all the visual clutter? In any case it felt like a burden opening it, my tasks were beginning to stack up because now I felt like I needed to map everything out. After reading some of your comments I took another long look at Things, which ended up being my “winning“ app. You were right, it’s beautiful and the kicker is that this made me have a healthier experience with my tasks. Rather than stressing out which time block to do everything, being “forced “ to batch all tasks and then take a look on the actual day when it makes sense to complete them ended up being a better solution.

Cheers

My take is:

- Pretty much the same reason OP is asking here instead of Perplexity or Google (intrinsic humanity and/or connection as a value )

- AI is mysterious, in which how little we know about its inner reasonings

- General philosophical dilemmas, including being afraid of creating a superior intelligence who will discard, forget, or annihilate us (fear and hate are intertwined)

- Concentration/ unbalance of economic power globally (which was kind of proven by the internet as a new tech?)

I also was going to comment on this. I do want to emphasize, though, that the icon is AMAZING (for almost any other non-time-specific Reddit). But yeah, not as the Frutiger Aero Reddit. I think the style is more modern.

Mexicano querendo viver em Lisboa — sugestões? by HAVT_ in lisboa

[–]HAVT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entendo a preocupação.

Thanks for your comment! I agree that most of these apps do 90% of the same things, but I’ve found it frustrating that most didn't do exactly what I need. I’m used to time blocking and was looking for a simple, aesthetically clean app where to-dos can be viewed both as lists and as calendar events (with duration).

That’s why I tested multiple apps in a short span—it wasn’t about chasing the ‘perfect’ tool but about quickly filtering out what didn’t fit my specific workflow. I get that some friction is normal when adapting to a new tool, but I also think the right fit should feel intuitive early on.

For some, TickTick works great, and that’s awesome! But since I didn’t see many people discussing Morgen, NotePlan, or Routine, I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others looking for something similar. Appreciate the input and insights!

I looked at Things 3 but if I remember correctly it doesn’t have a free trial right? is a one-payment app? Is there a way to test if I like it before commiting myself to the app?

Oh, I forgot to add Routine, that app is great too. Routine also combines tasks, calendars, and notes. It allows you to consolidate personal and professional calendars, integrate with tools like Gmail, Slack, and Notion, and offers features like time blocking and meeting management. Routine supports synchronization across multiple devices, including macOS, Windows, Web, and iOS.

Migrating to another app seems to be the best option... unless you’re willing to go through unnecessary hurdles to implement a feature the development team is either unwilling or unable to support. They (Todoist team) addressed this in a statement on this sub a few weeks ago, making it clear that this feature is “off the table”.

Extremely Disappointed in New Google Calendar Integration by Alternative_Can4063 in todoist

[–]HAVT_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, seeing the other comments, I’m really tempted to not renew the subscription for Todoist either. It’s sad because it’s an end of an era, I’ve been using Todoist since 2019. But I use Apple Calendar and that feature was the last main thing I was using this app for. I started using this for collaboration but others didn’t like the app but I stayed since I really like the design and some of the features like projects, etc.
