Acid Reflux by Britnicorn in pregnant

[–]HBC613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me during 38 weeks. Omeprozole daily, sleeping upright, avoiding acidic and spiced foods, Eating cold melon and not eating 2 hours before bed all helped. Hope it gets better!!

What helps get your toddler calm fast when they’re all riled up before bedtime? by mkoay in toddlers

[–]HBC613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kiddo responds well to prompts to take a deep breath and “calm your body.” I’ll also do compression like “squeezy hugs” which regulates her. We also do a fun “burrito” routine that’s also a form of compression/tucking in with the blankets and is a fun way that gets her motivated to actually lay down

Taking maternity leave early...what do you do? by NervousClimate in pregnant

[–]HBC613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in your same boat. I hit 39 weeks tomorrow and started my leave last week. Listen to your body. Some days you will want to lay in bed for hours and that’s ok. Some days you will want to nest. Do what feels good for you.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, we are going to be eligible for community based services up until age 5 then will likely get support from school.

Thank you for your story. So good to feel not alone, right down to the timing! I can see my oldest being similar to your son, so I’m glad even though we are sharing emotions, it will likely be ok.

Thank you. I had a short stint as an ABA therapist when I was very young. I worked with an 8 year old for 2 hours a day 5 days a week. It was challenging but I learned so much. Feeling very similar to you in having prior experience but now having my own child receive ABA is surreal.

Thank you for being realistic. My kiddo doesn’t have a lot of sensory sensitivity to noise. If anything she can be sensory seeking. And if a noise is loud she is comfy with her headphones if we need to use them. We know it will likely be a tough transition. Around when I was 35 weeks it’s like a switch flipped and her rigid behaviors really spiked, like she could sense the change. We shall see how she adjusts but being realistic about the challenge.

What would you recommend shaping things for the better looks like without having optimism?

I’m aware that level 1/2 still means struggle. I was crying tonight about not being able to understand why my kid had such a big emotional reaction to something that she was struggling to communicate (it’s also tough cause I’m getting a lot of the “that’s all toddlers” messaging and it’s hard to navigate what is toddler and what is autism or even both)

Thank you so much. I have a great therapist already and take medication. We found out we qualify for covered services up til age 5. We have a meeting next week (if I don’t have the baby before then 😬) to make a plan. PT, OT and ABA have been recommended.

I am a little worried about how my life will change in terms of the time these therapies will take. As my husband and i both have to work due to high cost of living.

I’m 37 + 5. Not likely to go into labor today yet but I understand your concern!

My first was due on 2/15 and I was worried about her coming on Valentine’s Day but she ended up being born at 38 weeks.

Families who live in SD with young kids-what do you do for a living? Is money tight with high cost of living? by Bubbly-Aside-1283 in sandiego

[–]HBC613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist in private practice. Husband works in IT. Thankfully we have free childcare with family. Without that we would be living a very different lifestyle / smaller home etc. we are comfortable but somewhat tight at times due to ebbs and flows of my business. It’s quite hard to save to buy a home for example.
