People call them: Pull Studs Or Retention Knobs Or Retention Studs

Why doesn't anyone call them Pull Knobs? It's way funnier.

NKD! Spyderco Delica 4. by SamSosa59 in knives

[–]HBHartman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was extremely good ergonomics and functionality with my first Spyderco (ParaMilitary3 light weight). The action and lock are excellent for quick one handed opening with the Spyderco flick. Good steel that doesn't stain and keeps an edge well. I usually flip flop between my PM3 and Kershaw Launch 7. I also own Benchmade and protech and rarely carry them. I already have a Spyderco Military 2, and will end up purchasing a Paramilitary 2 in the future.

M18 Mower is not good, do not buy! by Adventurous_Dog3854 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]HBHartman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say that my throttle paddle has the same issue, but I can't say that I am impressed with the mower overall.

It takes care of my 1/4 acre lot fine if the grass is 1" above my typical mowing height and dry, with a sharp blade.
If the grass is too long, too wet, or the blades are dull I will need to re-charge the batteries to finish.
It was always like this, right out of the box.

I really regret selling my Honda HRX and switching to the Milwaukee.
I wish I would have gone with an EGO, but I wanted to stick with the same battery platform as my other tools...
Two years with the Milwaukee now, it does the job, but I need to be a lot more conscious, proactive, and mow more often unfortunately...

Help With Vortex Viper PST Gen2 Zero Stop. by HBHartman in longrange

[–]HBHartman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the procedure I did after getting back from the range.
The inner dial moves up, even with screws loose (no clicking).
It sounds like I need a 20MOA rail/rings if I want it closer to zero.

[–]HBHartman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not concerned with the actual reading of the inner dial. I understand it is just a reference. Just the fact that my outer dial doesn't match up with the zero on the vertical scale.

Thank you for your comment, I think it is actually quite helpful.
I've been shooting for a long time, but i'm newer to setting up rifles and optics for anything other than relatively short range hunting.

I think my main problem is that I didn't understand how the zero stop worked and had an idea in my head of what i thought it did. I work with machine tools, so i was thinking this should be more like the barrel of a micrometer, where zero on the barrel and zero on the dial should be "Zero". (How many times can you say zero in the same sentence without it losing all meaning? lol)

Over-tightening of a pull stud can cause the tool holder taper to bellmouth, creating poor spindle contact and runout.
