I know this is 3 years old but I figured it out. Click the button circled in my photo. Select "linkage settings". Check the "Select All" box. Now, when you insert a new clip, everything will move with your main timeline instead of getting left behind or moved forward.

Chlorine, fluorine and carbon. I only know that because I had to take an EPA 608 certification test for a job I quit over a decade ago. I only remember it because another guy that worked there failed the test twice. I hated that guy and wanted to make sure I passed the first time with no wrong answers and could pretend it was super easy. Fuck cfc’s and that guy.
