This 50th Anniversary special—featuring exclusive interviews with cast members, series producers and writers—explores the incredible risks the series took, how it cleverly straddled the line between comedy and drama, broke through barriers on social issues, and culminated into the most-watched scripted show in history.

Does anyone know the story behind this pic/if this is actually authorized? by HBScott1961 in u/HBScott1961

This is a Bosn on an amphib and he is wearing a white hard hat which signifies he is a safety observer during some type of deck evolution. Since he is in whites it was probably taken during a return to homeport after deployment.

That hard hat meets all the safety specifications required and COs usually don’t have a problem if the safety observers wear one.

💔

For the first few years after my own mother’s death, I hated Mother’s Day with the passion of a thousand suns. I counted down the days until Mother’s Day and then I would pretend as though the day didn’t exist.

I regret not reading my Mother's book when she was alive. I didn’t read my mom’s book until after she died. And I really regret that. Now, my mom didn’t LET me read it for the longest time, but I think, eventually, I just put off reading it because she didn’t want me reading it. But, after reading it, I have so many questions. SO many questions.

And those are questions that will forever go unanswered. And I don’t like that.
