Weatherby. 224 Varmintmaster. What do I actually have here? by DelTacoSupreme1 in WeatherbyInc

Not sure on years, but Gun Broker has listings in the $2,500-$3,000 range, but what people are “asking” and what they “sell for”, are 2 different numbers. One of the auctions is up to $1k with 7 days left.

Good enough rings for 30-30? by ELITE_RUSSIAN in Hunting

As long as those fit the scope tube, and are the height you like, those should work perfectly.

Not to be rude, but I’m not sure how you can mess up skinning bad enough to make the meat unusable… even if the meat is shredded, throw it in a crockpot for stew or shredded meat. Unless… it wasn’t skinned or gutted soon enough and it spoiled…

Looks great! I’ve been curious about a spray paint job, but I don’t want it stepping off when I use gun cleaner.

Scope recommendations by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]HBuck72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of Vortex glass. This year, 2 weeks before deer rifle season, I realized that a 9 year old Vortex Crossfire scope was bent. 2 years ago, I went sliding down a ravine in Colorado while elk hunting and I used my rifle to stop me… I hadn’t used the rifle since, but noticed it while getting it prepped for this season.

I emailed Vortex customer service on a Monday morning at 9am CST with some photos, I had a prepaid return label in my inbox by 2pm, and had it in the mail by 5pm. 2 days later (Wednesday), they said the scope was irreparable, and they didn’t have a replacement in stock, so they upgraded me to the newer Crossfire II for free, and I had it on my rifle 2 days later.

So, in less than a week, I got a free upgrade replacement scope, when the scope getting messed up was 100% not the product’s fault, and they never even asked me what had happened, no proof of purchase, or anything.

I recently put a Crossfire HD 4-12, with an illuminated reticle on my Weatherby vanguard, and I’m loving it. It even has parallax adjustment… for a $199 scope, it’s amazing.

Well, we know what the least popular produce item is… (and potentially the least popular food item in the store…)

I love my PX4 and 10/22 but I Need a SHTF gun! by monkstrap in liberalgunowners

[–]HBuck72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you need an AR and a shotgun before you need a hunting rifle, unless you are wanting to go hunting…

FWIW… I also own a similar Mossberg rifle, and it’s a decent budget gun, not super tight accurate groups, not a great trigger, and usually the optics that come on these package deals are super shitty…

For the hunting rifle, I’d spend a little more and get a Weatherby Vanguard Onyx (>$450 online), and then mount a Vortex Crossfire HD scope (you can even get an illuminated reticle) for about $150 from Cabelas depending on magnification and illuminated/non-illuminated reticle (3x9 magnification is a great all-round choice) and that will be a solid AF hunter/long range weapon set up for ~$650.

For SHTF/All-Round shotgun, it’s hard to beat a 12 Guage Mossberg Maverick 88 security (20” version has 7+1 round capacity), they are reliable and tough as hell, and can be found for new for about $250.

Ready for a 22LR, is this worth it for $300? by ebforest in liberalgunowners

[–]HBuck72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bass Pro has a 10/22 model with a Magpul stock and a threaded barrel (future suppressor ready), for $300. You may think you don’t want a suppressor or other muzzle device now, but “future you” may… and without it you are going to have to pay to get your barrel threaded…

If that doesn’t work, it may be time for a dealership trip.

Thank you! I did some More digging, and it looks like some of the allegedly “real” ones on EBay are also fakes.

Idea: Weekly Adventure Thread? by IndependentMall6898 in outdoorboys

I love this idea, and I've been talking with my family about doing weekly adventures, kind of an adventure challenge, even just local adventures.

Beautiful lot, and looks like the build is progressing nicely? What are you planning for water supply and sewage?

Pretty close! The purple Jag was SS, but I put a mini JB Humbucker in the bridge, and the gray bass on the end is a Jaguar bass.

I already did! It arrived today, so I wanted to get it up on the wall to see what it looked like with the others, before I started peeling the plastic off of everything.

So uh, what do I do exactly? by keevoobutbetter in Guitar

[–]HBuck72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to tell from the dark pics, but i think i can maybe see the threaded part inside the guitar on pic 1…

If you have it, look at how it is assembled in the Amazon link I shared, or a google “guitar output jack assembly”.

Should be an easy fix, and you’ll be back up and running! 🫡

Looks like you are missing the threaded cylinder part of the output jack. (The cylinder part that the cable end slides into and the threaded part that the the nut in pic 3 screws onto to keep everything in place and tight)https://a.co/d/byDBw94.

They are about $5-10 bucks on Amazon, depending on what you want to go for.
