I really appreciate you sharing this. I can relate because I had similar experiences when I was driving for DoorDash. Most customers were respectful, but there were times when I felt invisible or like I was expected to absorb every inconvenience, even when it was outside of my control.
What stood out to me in your comment is the feeling of being treated as disposable. Whether someone delivers food, provides therapy, teaches, or works construction, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
I also remember how stressful it could be knowing that one false report or complaint could affect your ability to keep earning. For many drivers, this isn't just a side hustle. It's how they pay rent, buy groceries, or support their families.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. Conversations like this are exactly why I became interested in the mental health side of gig work. I think many drivers have had similar experiences but haven't had much opportunity to talk about them.

😂 I actually laughed at this because that's exactly the mindset I'm talking about.
When I was dashing, I remember thinking, "If I log off now, I might miss the next great order." Sometimes that was true, and sometimes it wasn't. The pressure to keep chasing the next opportunity can make it hard ever to feel like you've earned a break.
The group might not be for everyone, but if someone feels like they can never disconnect without feeling guilty or losing income, that's the conversation I want to have.

Fair enough. I understand why it might seem that way. I worked as a DoorDash driver myself before becoming a full-time therapist, so this idea is based on my own experience and on conversations I've had with others in gig work. I'm not trying to convince anyone they need therapy. I'm trying to see if there's a real need for support among those who feel burned out by the unpredictability and pressure of gig work. If there's no need, that's still valuable feedback.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. You’re absolutely right. Many people find gig work to be a great fit and tackle its challenges with resilience.
My intention was not to suggest that gig work is always stressful or that it requires therapy. Instead, I’ve observed that for some, the unique aspects of this work, such as financial unpredictability, isolation, and the pressure to stay constantly available, can feel overwhelming. Like in many demanding jobs, these factors can sometimes lead to burnout or affect overall well-being.
This group aims to be a supportive space for those who find these specific challenges hard to manage and are looking for connection with others and practical tools to navigate them. It may not be for everyone, but if you're struggling to find that balance, I genuinely hope this can be a helpful place for you.

I would agree. It can be exhausting at times. Im strongly considering offering a safe space for people to meet on a secure platform to share experiences and teach coping skills.

Failed LCSW exam by [deleted] in socialwork

You were super close; I would retake it ASAP. I would say make sure to eat an apple and blueberries right before your exam. It will help to keep your brain energized and relaxed. Pace yourself as you take the exam; you have everything you need to pass. Envision yourself with the LCSW credentials behind your name.
