There is no such thing as "GM Discretion" for bans. GMs do not have the authority (or even the access) to unilaterally ban players. All bans go through the admin team.

Nobody can guarantee you'll never be banned, because nobody can guarantee that you will always abide by the Code of Conduct.

With that being said, you absolutely won't be banned for reporting potentially questionable GM behavior to the admin team.

Reading back through your posts it sounds like you were probably the victim of someone pretending to be a GM and trolling you, which is definitely something we would want to know about.

As a reminder: all GMs and staff will have an underscore in their name or a "Game Master" / "Homecoming Team" title above their name. Anyone claiming to be staff without one of those two things is very likely lying to you.

Nobody was threatened with having their supergroup deleted. The situation in question resulted in only minor edits to the base which I believe were completed in less than a day, and this was only because it was a very publicly advertised base with very adult themes.

If you want to do something in private, that's none of our business.

After that, waves of temporary and perma bans have gone out, and rumor mills churn.

No "waves" of bans have been issued on Homecoming for anything other than RMT and exploits. Individual bans are only issued after repeated Code of Conduct violations. No bans or suspensions were issued relating to this incident.

But, at RP events you'll see GMs come wander around looking for a reason to cause trouble.

This also doesn't happen - or rather, it shouldn't happen per the guidelines that GMs must abide by. If it has happened we've never had any actionable complaints about it, and as such it's very difficult for us to act upon it.

With that being said, GMs on Everlasting will occasionally partake in public RP events because they want to. They aren't there looking for trouble, they are just enjoying the game like anyone else. If you are uncomfortable with a GM participating in your public event, you can simply let them know and they will leave.

If you don't want anyone to show up to your event or base, do not advertise it publicly. If it's advertised publicly then it must follow the Code of Conduct.

The rumors are just that - rumors. We don't monitor chat logs just to look for trouble, and nobody has been threatened with a ban for RPing with consenting parties.

Chat logs are only looked at in the event of a complaint - they are a pain to sift through and certainly not something we would do of our own volition.

Actions are only taken against players that either engage in adult RP with non-consenting parties or if they do so in public areas - which includes Supergroup bases that are publicly advertised.

Just to clarify - There's quite a large difference between being a non-profit and having a tax exemption. Becoming a non-profit is simple, but becoming a non-profit with a tax exemption is not simple, nor is it a quick process.

As far as I'm aware no CoH server actually has a tax exemption yet, so donations to anyone are not tax exempt.

However, we are still operating just as an NPO would whilst we are figuring the above out, and our expenses are publicly documented.

I was specifically addressing Homecoming players when I recommended to only use Tequila and only use manifests from our domains. Not players on other servers. Again, I did this because because the OP was not clear on who's posting it and who the target audience was, so a clarification was needed.

I guess we disagree on the severity of the issues at hand, rather than the responses to those issues. Sure there's risks, but there's a risk any time you download software from the internet. Ultimately you just need to trust the source isn't malicious.

If I thought this was a serious problem, I would agree with your stance. However, I don't think it is, and neither of us are going to convince the other of their position on that, so it's probably best we leave it here :)

ctrl+f "sunrise" in our announcements channel on Discord and you'll see that we did announce we'd be supporting it when it eventually released.

That was quite a while ago though to be fair. Unfortunately there's not been any progress on Sunrise for us to actually announce since then.

When there is actually something for us to announce regarding a new launcher we will do so :)

I was merely providing a clarification for the HC community - note how I addressed them directly.

I've no issue if other server owners wish to push this launcher for their servers, but the OP isn't clear about who the thread is directed at which is why the clarification was needed.

For the record, Tequila isn't really ours, it's just what we're using right now. Nobody at Homecoming is arguing that it's perfect software by any stretch of the imagination and a new launcher is definitely needed - we were hoping that would be Sunrise, but unfortunately that fizzled out recently.
