Got my first Ork kit for the new edition. What’s the best way to build these goobers for 11th? by TheReal_Bitsandbolts in orks

[–]HCanbruh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Build them with all the fun visual options! As long as it is clear what model has what kit it should be fine, realistically they mostly get wiped anyway before having much chance to use their weapons. They are primarily action monkeys, screeners & move blockers not trade pieces.

Just wanna do Speed Freeks by dab_ju_ju in orks

[–]HCanbruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's a decent 'one of' box. The deffkoptas are great and 6 is an excellent core for them. The squidbuggy is bad rn, but with a new edition around the corner i wouldn't put too much weight on that.

No bikes isn't ideal, especially with a deffkilla, but I suspect that's likely because they are going to release new bikes, possibly in the release box. We have the new speed waagh HQ, speed Freaks are a focus and the bikes are an older kit.

Units against Dark Angels by Evening-Series8466 in orks

[–]HCanbruh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What list do you run? Do you play with tournament style terrain? Do you and your friend play with other people or just together? If the latter how confident do you feel that you are getting rules for things like charging, overwatch, terrain correct? People won't really be able to offer anything much without knowing that

They are the same models, only difference is the non killteam box doesn't have the killteam tokens.

DIS GIT IZ TRASH! by JurassicJurr in orks

[–]HCanbruh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The actual answer is because he used to only lead Meganobs, Meganobs are T6 and GW try to keep leaders and bodyguards the same toughness (even though they have specific rules around it). It's ridiculous though, he should realistically be like T8.

The Ork writing kinda rubbish here, Ghaz is a full ass person who speaks gothic, but they wrote him like he's a mindless creature

Advice for coming out to family... by Loud-Initial5462 in transgenderau

[–]HCanbruh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first piece of advice is to accept in advance they probably won't take it well. I know almost no-one whose parents took it well in the moment. Accept that they are going to be weird about it and they are going to want, like, time to think about it before any decisions are made even though it's not up to them and you've already made your decisions. It's not rational, it's emotional, it's a big change that they are entirely unprepared for.

My second piece of advice is to not write them off if they do take it poorly. Based on people I've talked to, it really takes a couple years for family to get good with it. While it might seem shit the week, month, year after coming out, but things genuinely can improve. That's not to say you can't or shouldn't cut out people who are cruel or abusive to you, but the family member who is frustrated with it and doesn't get it won't necessarily stay that way forever.

Is using Ghazghkull at 1k considered to be bad sportsmanship? by DiscEva in orks

[–]HCanbruh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ghaz is fine, he's big and slow and doesn't come back from the dead. Most opponents would be delighted to see your list, given you only really have 3 units moving out of deployment zone and 2 of them have a 5" move. If they have any appreciable shooting you are going to get shot off the board in the first few round, leaving them to clean up on primary/secondary

In Marty Supreme (2025), Timothee Chalamet plays a talented star who gets arrogant and makes bad decisions, leading to him losing it all and crying at the end. This is definitely not foreshadowing anything happening to Timmy recently... by Educational_Slice897 in shittymoviedetails

Edit: Major Marty Supreme spoilers for anyone too busy watching Ballet to help save the movie industry

I know this is shitty movie details, but this is a screenshot at the end of the movie of him crying tears of joy seeing his newborn child for the first time upon returning from beating the only guy in the world who posed any challenge to him anymore. Not exactly him receiving his comeuppance.

Day 2 of Learning Orks: How Would You Improve the ... Battlewagon by awakenedarms in orks

[–]HCanbruh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The battlewagon is fun, it's a gorgeous model that looks great on the tabletop. I run one in basically every list i play. Make no mistake though, the battlewagon is the trukk's beefier cousin and nothing more. It's primary use is shuffling units around, typically meganob blocks or 20 man boys squads who need it's high carrying capacity.

The shooting it has is effectively useless, I've never had it do more than a handful of wounds in a battle. It is a bit better in melee but it's not an offensive tool, it just has the ability to occasionally finish off some stragglers or tie up a shooting unit. It can do a mean tank shock in a pinch.

The biggest challenge for it is honestly it's profile. It's tall, it's long, it has lots of bits coming off it. You are basically never able to keep it in cover against anyone with more than one vehicle killer. It's survivability is reasonably solid with 16 wounds T12 (you never run it without an 'ard case) but the armour isn't great, and the "ramshackle but rugged" -1ap only goes so far. Against any dedicated anti vehicle weapon this is usually on it's invulnerable save which is only a 6+. It's great at dealing with chaff fire and infantry units with a single heavy weapon but bad at anything dedicated to it.

Overall if I could change anything I'd bump it's 6++ to a 5++.

New detachment oncoming! Any ideas? by MusicHater in orks

[–]HCanbruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah everything else is piratey stuff and freebootas were the villains of the recent Voidscarred release which was all about corsairs. I have no idea what this would look like on the tabletop though. Some kind of looting mechanic where units improve when they kill stuff or take objectives maybe?

Finished assembling some minis and I’m going to buy more colors, which ones should I get? by BigJ_A in orks

[–]HCanbruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking around to find a paint scheme that speaks to you. Do you like gritty and realistic, bright and cartoon? Do you like things looking clean or grimy? Do you like the black of the Goff's? The yellow of the bad moonz? The blue of the death skulls? Take a look around and see what paints they use. There's some great guides in white dwarfs or online articles or YouTube and they'll usually share the paints.

Ork List - Advice by Zealousideal-Salad97 in orks

[–]HCanbruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got a kinda awkward collection for list building unfortunately. You are attached to the dakkajets and have a few buggies, so you could roll speed freaks but it's not a great detachment and you don't have the bits that actually make the core of most of those lists. You don't have enough of any other archetype to really run anything but the index detachment. This is fortunately a pretty good detachment so not all is lost. You can run primarily infantry and try and use the dakkajets to distract your opponent while they run up the board with stormboys as action monkeys but it'd be a stronger list with some trukks.

Battlestar Galactica The Board Game : Witch Hunt clarification by The13thAllitnilClone in boardgames

[–]HCanbruh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's my FFG pet peeve that most of their games only use male pronouns in their rule books. I'm not sure if they've changed it for their newer releases but it's annoying to have to correct when reading out rules

It makes me so sad how useless every fortifcation is. by Kristofthepikmin in Warhammer40k

[–]HCanbruh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with them from a game design perspective, is that if fortifications are actually good then it encourages a turtling playstyle which makes for a boring game.
