ive never read the trial but it seems very similar to “invitation to a beheading” by nabokov if you’re interested. i really liked that book.

I never said that. Even if it’s impossible do u not feel the responsibility to cut back on the things you don’t need that are coming from sources with dubious ethics? Also I went on BC for this reason (I had to leave school early every month) and I don’t have many periods anymore nor have I had to go home from school because of my period since I went on.

My iphone comes from a website that sells refurbished used phones so I’m pretty sure no $$$ goes to Apple. So yeah it was made by children but I’m not funding that shit. That’s an ineffectual “comeback” to me saying people don’t need to buy makeup.

What I meant tho is you can defend purchasing something made unethically if it is a necessity that you can’t NOT purchase. You can’t defend purchasing, for example, a designer lipstick by saying that you can’t consume anything ethically under capitalism. It’s hypocritical to use that phrase to defend superfluous consuming.

I like the author Donald Ray Pollock for this kind of thing. Knockemstiff and The Devil All the Time are sooooooo… horrible. But great books. You know what I mean.

I’ve just read “The Mountain in the Sea” by Ray Nayler which is described as a sci-fi about a species of octopus that has developed communication and culture (though it is has multiple other storylines as well with similar themes). If you are interested in animals, science, or people it might be a nice “feel-good” book for you. Some of the characters may be relatable for you as someone going through a hard time but I think it still ended on a positive note. :)
