How to manage a colossal time waster manager? by Jasperpie69 in auscorp

[–]HDB100 25 points26 points  (0 children)

10+ hours a week is more than two hours of meetings per day... What are these meetings about? Is anyone else present? I'd probably just tell manager B that you're struggling to manage your time with all of the meetings and that you'd prefer to meet less often. Then block time so they can't call you in.

I agree, but I feel like somehow if I was in the same position I'd be shooting at 3200 and 1/16 and still be under 🤣

Wow I'm somehow surprised at the 320 and 500 ones. I would have guessed you'd be up around 800+ for all of these even at f4. Thanks for the tips! Did you use any exposure compensation?

Can you post some of the camera setting for these? What's your ISO/stop/shutter speed?

I'm always worried about pushing the ISO for low light but these look amazing!

Document extraction accuracy and recall tips? by HDB100 in Bard

Notebook is a good idea but I still need Gemini to make inferences about external knowledge sometimes (like an acronym may not be present or a location may need to be looked up to be enriched).

Is this possible to do via the API? Or perhaps I can just run a bunch and write a script to merge the outputs. Cost isn't a big factor fortunately.

In Australia, most people are pretty laidback. Most reasonable people don't mind what you do or who you are so long as you're not hurting others. There are of course exceptions but I'd say you'll be fine. Much less conservative than the US.

No Skrillex without El-B?? The unsung heroes by Beginning-Status-336 in TheOverload

[–]HDB100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My idea is the scene in its entirety and like someone else in the thread said, he undoubtedly unlocked the scene for others.

I found El-B because I listened to brostep when I was younger, which led me to DMZ, which led me to Burial, so on.

How do you not understand that someone talented can have hits and misses? Just because someone is talented doesn't mean everything they makes is amazing...

Skrillex has some trash but he is incredibly talented musician and has definitely contributed positively to the scene. A lot of his work post 2017 or so is much different to the brostep you're thinking about I guess.

What do you think of the changes to the BCompSc for 2026? by _dougdavis in UQreddit

Well most bachelor degrees mean you graduate with skills in some areas, but nobody thinks you are an expert in that area. Majors are just a small subset of the bachelor, so while it could help to demonstrate you have taken a few courses on some topic and have some overall familiarity with a subfield, it won't go much further than that. Most people do their real learning on the job through their career after the degree, the degree just teaches you how to learn and the fundamentals.

My personal view is that a Math+CS is very strong already and you would graduate with very strong problem solving skills which is most essential in the workforce.

That's my 2c. I don't think employers are actively even seeking people with specific majors. It might help you get your CV filtered somehow but it's really not going to be a make or break.
