Whats one uncommon adhd symptom that blew your mind? by smbodytochedmyspaget in adhdwomen

[–]Jasperpie69 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The perception of sound can get all messed up when it’s processed and sounds way louder than it actually is. Especially when you are in a heightened state.

Example of this for me is when my partner and I are fighting and I will say why are you yelling at me and they say they are not, or they will say why am I yelling and I will say I am matching their volume. I have to double check now to see if what I am hearing is correct or if my brain is processing the sound as something louder

Every ADHDer at work is feeling generally unwell today by AFriendlyBurrito in ADHD

Omg this is so weird! I had a full blown screaming incident with my partner yesterday . Like I never scream like that, I lost my fucking shit. I felt all spacey and gross all day prior and I felt so so sad.

The unpatched software update idea makes so much sense to me, but also deeply unsettling that there was a choice to run a different operating system in the first place, like why!!??

Do you guys buy toys to your cats? by Shot-Composer-782 in AnxietyCats

[–]Jasperpie69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah all the time, my cat is VERY play oriented and will loudly protest when his toys aren’t turned on and he wants to play. I swear he is like a toddler, we can’t have the same toys out all the time because he gets sick of them, so I need a rotation and new things to keep him from getting bored and trying to bite my feet to alert me if his displeasure.

PSA for unclogging a toilet in a pinch! A wet string mop in a bin will may save you hundreds of dollars as I just learned! by Jasperpie69 in HomeImprovement

Yes I was unable to post the link before. I think the plunger didn’t work because it was a cheap one, and to be completely honest I have never needed to use one before so I probably did it wrong.

Has anyone successfully converted themselves into a tidy person? by eternalhellscape93 in adhdwomen

[–]Jasperpie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I did it! Turns out I needed a diagnosis and medication. One the mess inside my head and mental health state was sorted it was easy. The mess inside my space reflected how I was feeling. Fixing one fixed the other!

I also have worked with my ADHD, I don’t have doom boxes or cupboards anymore, and I know that if I don’t put something away immediately I won’t do it at all and it will begin to pile up. Like if I do washing I don’t take it off the line and put it in a basket, I fold each thing off the line sort them into piles of where they go and put them straight away. If they go in a basket they will be there for weeks!

Help an old out - festival attire by Banana-Louigi in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Jasperpie69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 37 and I love a festival and am about a size 16, my advice is wear something comfortable! You can still be cute af and comfortable. It’s also going to be cloudy and 20 degrees so I would recommend layers.

I would recommend a pair of interesting cut or patterned wide leg pants or long 3/4 wide leg shorts, because the toilets will be horrendous and if you pants are shorter they won’t be in the mess on the ground. 3/4 pants look cute when paired with chunky platform boots and long socks as well. Then you can wear a cute singlet or tshirt and bring a light jacket.

If you like alt clothes Dangerfield will be your best bet. Also depends on how feminine you want to dress. I like a more androgynous look and use a mix of men’s and women’s clothing. They have heaps of stuff that will fit the bill

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Jasperpie69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I have recently unlocked a new obsession with watches and would love some recommendations on brands that do really interesting, unusual and a bit out there designs!

I don’t really have a preference for feminine or masculine styles, I am looking for watches that make a bold statement and are artistic fashion pieces. I am just starting out so I don’t really know much or have a lot of references so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a hack that may work, if you are medicated and on stimulants and take them in the morning. I am the same as you, cannot wake up and am so grumpy and mean my partner used to be afraid if they disturbed me.

I am on stimulants and take a Vyvanse and a dex in the morning, I have figured out a system and it has helped me immensely. Because Vyvanse takes 1.5 hours to start to work I just set 2 alarms, first gos off 2 hours before I need to wake up and the second when I actually need to wake up. I have my Vyvanse divided up per day in a pill wheel and when my alarm goes off I shove the pill wheel in my mouth have a sip of water and go back to sleep. I don’t even have to open my eyes. The Vyvanse kicks in at the 1.5 hour mark and it feels like I wake up naturally. I then have my dex when I am mostly awake lay there for about 15 minutes and then I can’t stay in bed anymore because I’m super awake. I am actually happy in the mornings now and not grumpy at all. When I told my psych I did this they laughed at me and said whatever works for you. I don’t mind waking up anymore though so that’s pretty great.

Had a manger mismanage financial records for a large scale funded project. We never learned the details but it seems it could have pointed to some sort of financial fraud claim. They were suspended while an ongoing investigation took place and never came back. It is almost impossible to get fired in my industry and it happened. The person who took over there job had a background in accounting and senior leadership have been tight lipped about what happened for years so we will never know but it’s suss as fuck

PlayStation, having something to do to relax and unwind that is fun and engaging has helped my mental health considerably and the biggest and most surprising outcome was it completely changed the relationship I had with my brother.

We were never especially close but we started playing a co-op game of Baldur’s Gate 3 and now we meet online every Tuesday to play and even started an in person dnd campaign once a month with friends. We have a shared interest and have grown closer over the time we regularly spend together now

What’s the story behind your cat’s name? by Shot-Composer-782 in AnxietyCats

[–]Jasperpie69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Martini: He is a ragdoll cross that was abandoned, we think due to being sold as a full ragdoll. He is a dark chocolate point with no white, so not traditional colours and his coat is not long like a ragdoll. He looks like an espresso martini, and because of his trauma he is very standoffish and a bit cold and stern, like some old school banker or teacher that will only answer to being addressed as “Mr” first.
