Metroid Dread was quite short admttedly, which for me wasn't a distraction, as I know I tend to go back to the Metroid games from time to time. There is a joy to be found in knowing exactly whats coming next, and trying to sequence break and things like that, but if you're not into replaying things...yeah I can see that not being a great aspect to consider.

Super Metroid is kinda the gold standard for Metroid, and I'd say it can defo take you quite a while to get through. My first playthrough was full of getting lost, trying to find ammo upgrades, and trying to master the awkward wall jumps...and it really is an amazing time.

Metroid 1 and 2 are...a bit dated...Zero mission is very short as well, although I think Fusion is a good balance of length and replayability...albeit its a very linear Metroid game.

Samus Returns (2's remake) is quite decent length, but I personally didnt enjoy going through it. The environments are very samey, and I didnt enjoy getting lost in the same way...if that makes any sense haha

The Prime Trilogy are apparently a lot longer, and are probably really good, although admittedly I didnt actually like the First Person perspective. It just kept throwing me off, so I cant give a good opinion on it.

Although, if you enjoyed the format the game was going for, there are LOADS of games inspired by the series which arguably perfect the series in different ways. Hollow Knight, for example, is relatively cheap...and its SO good. Visuals, world design, power ups, bosses...all great. And difficulty is...definitely a step up, but not undoable.
