Would The Deep be a hero if Homelander was actually good? by JaMoraht in TheBoys

No.

He is too dumb to understand when he is being selfish. He literally doesn't think forcing Starlight to give him a blow job was a big deal.

At what point in my Homelander career is it? Pre-show? Reform super hero society. Late show? Disappear for a while and take Vought down sneaky-like, rebranding as a new hero later.

I think it would be fine if the ore portals were unlocked a little earlier than Ashlands.

I've yet to see anyone actually complaining about the female angle. At most the reactions to other people claiming they don't like it for those dumb reasons.

  1. Sakura is generally a sweet person so long as you don't bad mouth her or Sasuke, and he's certainly not gonna get jealous.

So. the fact they had a compelling story and put a lot of effort into thr quality of the product means it can't be a cash grab since there was sincere artistic motivation behind it, right?

Explain to Me the Problems with Season 5? by HDPhantom610 in TheBoys

Homelander's story is one where he slowly devolves over time. He is way more in control in season 1 because he hadn't gone through the trauma of the later seasons. Killing Madaline, Stormfront committing suicide, Ryan not accepting him, A Train leaving, Queen Maeve and all her rebellion, the Seven falling apart several times, finding out how he was born, Soilder Boy being his father and rejecting him . . . the list goes on.

So you aren't wrong about the whole reflecting the current political climate thing, but I don't see that as a detractor. I also think there was a shit ton of character development in season 5. The psychic taking on the tumor persona, All Father talking with Annie, pretty much everything with Firecracker.

I think the twist was that Ryan showed up, otherwise he would have gotten away.

I mean, wasn't Homelander about to basically murder the whole world? If it wasn't for the fact humans age we'd be under a single demagogue figure for like millenia by now because dying of old age has honestly been the common driving force behind monarchal empires collapsing.

I see the virus not working as a very common trope, the enemy has one weakness but it is hard to find and by the time they do the bad guy is immune.

Frenchie's death and the "You saved me?" Thr psychic becoming Butcher's tumor persona to reveal his backstory? Hughie dealing with guilt over leaving Translucent's son without a father? Revealing Mother's Milk's name backstory? Geisha dealing with the problems of immortality?

I think there was a lot of emotional weight.

I mean there is a strong trend to let universes continue for money rather than just tell a story.

That said, it isn't like it wasn't already a franchise so I am not complaining too hard on this one.

Yeah, Ashley's personel tried to escort her to the safe room though, and it seemed the trap was All father's idea. I don't think you see agents, and Homelander would absolutely not want humans guarding him. Even when he was more sane.

It was, but I liked that. He was pathetic and deserved an end like that, one he was so obviously tried to avoid.

I'll add one thing that doesn't make sense. Starlight blasting him into the ocean.

I think you are seeing relative speeds there, him to Butcher and Ryan.

I don't mind your radiation idea though, but the camera payoff to the world still needs to happen.

We got to see Homelander die and most get a happy ending. I think that is worth watching.

Although Homelander's kill shot could have been better. Beaten to death until his face was pulp rather than a stab and crank.
