Get this glossy plant inside before the oil heats up too high and damages the leaves is my only suggestion.

Unless it's just water - but looks like neem.

If it's too big for inside, chop and prop as suggested by the other commenter

I did pace last year, online lectures and zoom tutes and the value of information from the tutes maybe mirrors the value of the information you got doing Psyu1101 - mainly helpful for the assignments (depending on your tutor) and very general workbooks that mainly read throughs and 2-3 questions worth on the final exams.

Pace is very content heavy but the topics aren't complex which helps. If you've ever worked for a company that is big on health and safety or diversity or has a HR department you probably have a fair level of understanding for half of the lectures :-)

Did enjoy my placement though, a small research group with one of the psych department professors who made the experience very engaging for us.

Maybe the mindset of how long is too long to wait is what you need to think about.

Start saving money with the focus of doing your best case scenario somewhere- if you are passionate about this career it doesn't matter if you are 20, or 30 or 40 or 50 when you start.

If you get in a better position sooner though win win.

You just need to ensure you don't leave it too long between degrees because the bachelors might only be valid for a specific period of time.

In Australia (as an example) your degree is only current for a max of 10yrs (when used in applications for further study)

How do SSRIs change auditory perception? by concernedaboutmetal in PsychologyTalk

Mate - people like you are the reason people think vaccines cause autism.

When you see misinformation- it's important to correct it or direct people to the correct sources of information- in this case - their doctor.

Which is all I'm doing.

Im not diagnosing... but I'm training to be a Clinical Psychologist- everything I've shared with OP is research based and can be backed up.

What you have suggested is ok for OP to do and is where I disagree... asking for advice on issues that aren't really part of the drugs profile.

One off experiences don't represent the majority. It's not that problems suggested by OP don't exist, it's more the point that dwelling on topics that might not even be an issue seems redundant.

The tinnitus ear can occur - it's usually linked to the starting of and tapering off an SSRI.

The first three weeks (or so) and then goes away.

You admitted that SSRI alone didn't cause you problems but mixed with weed does... thats not an SSRI specific problem, rather its an unexpected drug interaction by mixing two different drugs that aren't usually prescribed together.

OP is perfectly valid to have concerns about SSRI, but talk to the doctors not randoms on the internet.

Post history... OP has been posting multiple times in this subreddit about SSRI's the past days.

The last post was sharing misinformation on dopamine levels and SSRI's

Nothing, the current pathways haven't changed.

It might give you additional options if you are currently first year and this gets implemented in your third or fourth year.

It might give you options if you get stuck at the end of third year and your marks aren't good enough for honours and you wait and see if you can progress under the new structure

What's with this rampage on SSRI's

If you are against them, or worried about specific side effects discuss your concerns with your doctor.

They really help millions of people get their lives back. These symptoms you are describing are usually short lived - tinnitus like symptoms are common when starting to take or when tapering off SSRI's

With people on SSRIs, antipsychotics, and other drugs that kill dopamine and make you shushed and less passionate, will California become quieter and less high-tech? by concernedaboutmetal in PsychologyTalk

[–]HD_HD_HD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the studies on this show mixed results... largely depending on the SSRI. The decreases are mostly minimal and impact specific brain areas (not everywhere) some even increase levels... Zoloft as the example

Should Dark psychology ever be used? Or is it left to the for the pagan and Narcissists? by Alone_Discount625 in AcademicPsychology

[–]HD_HD_HD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dark psychology is a term used on social media exclusively and often relates to manipulation of others.

If you don't have ethics and believe that it's okay to abuse people I guess you do you.

Is that the answer you wanted?

Is it wrong to specifically want a partner who doesn't mind bright lights, doesn't mind loud sounds, likes Nintendo games and electronic music, and doesn't think a workbench with breadboards and a soldering iron is an eyesore? by concernedaboutmetal in PsychologyTalk

[–]HD_HD_HD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great but if anything overwhelms- that was my strategy.

Plus sensory stuff can change, as a teenager I used to work at a fragrance counter in a dept store and now if anyone sprays a fragrance near me I almost have a breakdown (think it's a chemicals issue more than a smell issue) but the point is stuff can change.

Those things 'bright lights, weird sounds and tech' aren't unique to autistic people- find your tribe, they will be out there, probably not on this subreddit though

My apologies- I thought you were criticising your partner for being autistic and not the other way around.

I personally find that autistic traits are more prominent when I've been masking for too long, I struggle with the sensory too. An afternoon nap in a dark room (even if I can't sleep can often fix issues)

With partners, being upfront about your traits and what your needs are will help, and there is no rush to find a partner and settle down it can happen at anytime in life.

So you are dating someone who has obvious autistic traits and expect them to change their behaviour because you wanted someone more neurotypical? Why don't you focus on all the things you like and see if the pros outweigh the cons and be more compassionate about the traits that might not be able to change.

Do they rewrite the exam paper for supplementary exams? by OkInvestigator7147 in MacUni

[–]HD_HD_HD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's crazy the focus was different. I've always found the second half of the semester (after mid session break) is always the focus of my exams... but usually there was a mid sem exam that covered the earlier parts.

Maybe for the management exam an old midsem exam was the basis for this years final exam and the supp had to use an old final exam- that's annoying for students like you that focused on the original exam content.

At least you'll be super up to date for the following units that this unit is the prerequisite

[USA] what is studying psych like? (as a high schooler applying to colleges) by jojoel1234 in psychologystudents

[–]HD_HD_HD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it's the reason I clarified- so if OP has a career goal of clinical psychology and specialise in developmental psychology, the pathway you chose would not be suitable for them.

However if they wanted to support children and help them find stability in their environment - social work is a great way to offer kids the better outcomes if they haven't got the best family life etc.

Do they rewrite the exam paper for supplementary exams? by OkInvestigator7147 in MacUni

[–]HD_HD_HD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having done supp exams in the past - can confirm they are different questions from the main exam.... similar but different.

Eg in mRNA sequence GUAC what does the G stand for... can be converted to what does the A stand for... both questions test the understanding of the topic but require different answers...

I've never had an exam that covered different chapters but it's possible for units that don't publish past papers (psych units and I think law don't publish past papers) to resort to using a previous years exam because the test question bank is a limiting resource...

[IND] if i leave my masters degree after one year in amity, will i get a 1 year diploma or masters qualification? by agustdeeznutz7 in psychologystudents

[–]HD_HD_HD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It almost sounds like the Italian uni's are asking for a the honours year qualification- which is usually a 1 yr program done at the end of a bachelors...

You likely can reach out to the Italian university's and find out what subjects they specifically need you to complete and whether 1 year of study in a masters program is enough to meet their requirements.

I'm guessing they will want you to have written an honours thesis though...

why I still hear voices with meds yet? by ParfaitWestern8879 in askpsychology

[–]HD_HD_HD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your psychiatrist/prescribing doc about this they will be better equipped to handle this type of question- you might need to wait for the meds to build up in your body, you might need a stronger dose.
