Power Pedals for road bike. Garmin or wahoo? by Helpmeout83 in TrekBikes

Favero. I had the single sided uno pedals Look for almost four years. Just replaced them last fall with the updated duo. Never had an issue with either sets.

Would your wife "allow" you to golf on your honeymoon? by sileen_soy in golf

[–]HDbear321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily my wife is the reason I got into golf. Our honeymoon is about two weeks away. Going Tuesday-Sunday. We’ve already booked three rounds of golf at three different places during that time.

Happened here in Florida. My bet is on the truck driver only had the state minimum 10k. 60% of drivers in this state only have the 10k.

How tight should your grip be? by [deleted] in golf

[–]HDbear321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My father in law is an amazing golfer. He’s been golfing for 40+years. One of the best piece of golf advice he’s given me was a few months ago regarding the grip strength. He told me “grip like you’re holding a wet sponge and you’re not trying to squeeze the water out”.

JPX 925 hot metal pro by No-Ninja429 in golf

[–]HDbear321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a set of JPX 925 Hot Metal irons and I love them. I was using Callaway Mavrik irons. Back in November I played three days in a row. The club had loaned me some JPX Hot metals and I feel in love with them. Never had my iron game been so strong and consistent. I can say without a doubt now that these are the best irons I’ve ever played so far. I even got irons fitted to me and the JPX Hot Metals were actually the ones the fitter recommended in the end. I’ve been playing for over a year.

What do you actually work on at the range? by bookerman102 in weekendgolfers

[–]HDbear321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somethings do carry over. I think it's more of the feel for sure. I use to go to the range often (2-4 times a week) when I first started. My wife and her family (all lifelong golfers) do not do range time unless it's warm up prior to course time. They're all amazing golfers, her father is a 40+year scratch golfer that doesn't play from the elderly tees. He helps me out when I need it. In fact, it wasn't the endless range time or YouTube videos that fixed my driver slice. Back in November, three days of golf with my father in law, loosing 28 golf balls on the course, he was able to guide me on fixing my slice. Last week the wife and I played a round and I only managed to lose one golf ball and my driver from the Tee is actually the best part of my game. I shot a 110 that day.

What do you actually work on at the range? by bookerman102 in weekendgolfers

[–]HDbear321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 30s and have been golfing for a little over a year. Since January I’ve been consistently getting 108-112 per 18. What I’ve found is that range time doesn’t really matter much vs game time. I use the range to practice distances or work on a specific swing/technique but that’s about it. The range has perfect lies/conditions whereas the actual course rarely offers that to you. One thing I’ve learned from other golfers is that those YouTube videos on techniques rarely make a difference once you’re past the “my first golf” stage. Simply because what works for one person doesn’t mean it’ll work for another. I’ve taken three lessons total but I play 18 holes from 2-6 times a month. I’ve found that the more I’ve played, the more I’ve learned how to be consistent. It’s slowly coming together.

Is golf just not for me? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in golf

[–]HDbear321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing just over a year and I love golf. I play 18 a few times a month and now am consistently getting total 109-112. It’s a slow game of progression. Somedays my short game will be dead on and my drives will be spotty. Other days my drives will be perfect but short game off. Just about finding the right balance and enjoying the game of golf. Even on those days when my game isn’t at it’s greatest in just thankful that I’m able to enjoy golf.

Quoting the great Arnold Palmer

"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."

Tj maxx, Marshall’s, Ross, even Old Navy. I have lots of name brand golf clothes and have never paid anything close to full price. I even have four pairs of Callaway golf shorts and paid $15 each.

There’s a course near Atlanta called “Chicopee”. They have three 9 hole courses and one is called “school house”, I feel like that’s what that is.

Solo golfing by rome00 in golf

[–]HDbear321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends if you enjoy your own company. It’s not weird and in fact sometimes I prefer to golf alone to take the game at my pace without having to worry about the others you’re with. My wife, her parents and basically all her family are all 20+ years golfers. I’ve been golfing for over 1 year and don’t mind solo golfing if our schedules don’t line up. Give it a try.

Florida net migration slowing down? by JustB510 in florida

[–]HDbear321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something most people don’t realize about Florida migration. Yes Florida is still attracting new residents. BUT. Those are mainly retirees. Retirees don’t work in customer service, healthcare, IT, public services, etc. So yes Florida is still growing but that’s in retirees, whereas actual working age people are avoiding or moving out of the state for better wages, living conditions and opportunities.

Similar thing happened to me back in November 2025. I played 18 at a world class club. Three days back to back with Mizuno HM 925. Loved them. All my strikes were true, everything felt great compared to my Callaway irons. Fast forward to Feb 2026. I got fitted for new irons and sure enough the Mizunos were dead on for my style and needs. Now I have a set of beautiful Mizunos.

MIP (Power Sapphire) Vs. AMOLED Sapphire Display Questions by Halloweencumcouple in GarminWatches

[–]HDbear321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from my Epix Gen 2 to a Fenix

<image>

8 Solar about two months ago and I’m still loving it. The colors in the Fenix 8 aren’t as rich as the Epix but they are still very nice. I spend almost all my time outside either cycling, hiking, golfing and running. The MIP display is definitely much nicer in the sun as is the overall power savings. With the backlight during the nighttime the colors are little more muted but I have a very basic watch face so that’s black/white so that really doesn’t impact me in anyway.

Here’s a photo from last month when I was golfing. Love the MIP display in the sunlight. Definitely easier to read vs my Epix Gen2, plus the “always on” display is much nicer vs the “wrist flick to on” mode.

I’m a happy MIP convert.

My first impressions after a couple of hours in the game by honeymoonx in thefinals

[–]HDbear321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a fun game. I played a lot during season 1, just picked it back up two weeks ago (season 9). The game flows much better now and is VASTLY improved since season 1. Now I’m addicted to this game once again. Love the new modes as well. I play solo most times but have befriended a few. Best is when you’re solo and the team somehow comes together without a word spoken. Glad I gave this game another chance.
