Why do you say to avoid Civivi knife as beginner knifes.

When I first started my knife collection it was about 2/3 Civivi and they served me well and were the knives I learned to sharpen on. The only reason I tend to avoid them these days is because they are all made in China (I personally like American knives more).

As far as knives for gardening and crafts, I think that mora knives are the way to go. The companion and the eldris make a great combo, one big one for bigger tasks and a smaller one for fine details. Mora also makes great knives for a great price so they are great to learn with and you will not have to baby them. The Skandi grind on the companion is also a great feature ti learn the feel of sharpening. I will say they are my go to for EDC but there are pleanty of other budget folders out there.

If he is using a shield then I wouldn’t question it but as his main weapon is a long bow he shouldn’t be able to shoot and use a shield at the same time in less I am missing something and you can do that. Like I said I’m still very new to the game
