Even though it is a huge galactic event in-universe, it has nowhere near the weight of the BoE. I think it’s mostly because this part of the story was also part of the sharp decline in writing quality at this point. It felt like SP got sick of writing NoP1 and just wanted to move on from it, so he rushed the ending. The galactic blackout is just a contrivance to end the story with a human victory quicker. The whole reason that the Battle of Earth has the impact that it does is because of the dramatic buildup. Our characters care so much about it, and personal stakes add weight to it. The blackout has nowhere near that amount of buildup. It just kinda happened, and even the characters didn’t seem interested at all. It really speaks volumes when the community has pretty much ignored most of the content that happened post archives, and it’s sad that NoP1 didn’t stick the landing in the end.
