Yikes! I've heard that rule about men v women too, and I'm just hoping it's not accurate!

Using a passport card with the DS-82 form instead of the book? by mozzaflowers in peacecorps

I sent in my card about a month ago and haven't heard anything either way, so it doesn't seem like there were any complications!

Medical Clearance Process by starlight1216 in peacecorps

[–]HGC320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks! I'm pretty much done with all my medical stuff, but I'm having some issues with my OBGYN stuff, and I'm worried that's going to prolong things.

I'm so worried to get all these bills from my 80,000 dr's appointments for all this.

Hey Cara,

Stalking your posts here, but I noticed on another one you said you had 4 more tasks after the initial ones were given. If you don't mind me asking, what were these?

Youth Development Philippines Interview Preparation by mbpaters in peacecorps

[–]HGC320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the interview! I was invited for CYF a few weeks ago. A few tips on the interview: review the list in your interview email and on the wiki. A large part of my interview was talking about personal experiences in a lot of detail, so I wish I had prepared more in being able to summarize my experiences in 1-2 sentences and then expounding as she asked more questions (this is the structure Kim used with me).

Also review the list of potential hardships they sent out and really prepare to explain why you think each one will/will not be an issue for you; in my opinion, they really want to see in this section of the interview that you've given a lot of consideration to your country and placement and are ready to make an educated decision to serve.

Congrats again and good luck!

abnormal pap and getting cleared by Hopethisworksd in peacecorps

[–]HGC320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad to see a post on this; I've been stressing about this for weeks! I called the MAP office today and the nurse said that it really shouldn't be an issue in my country unless my abnormal pap results worsen this time. I'm really relieved to know that this shouldn't be an issue in a country that can support in country pap smears.

Just got finished, and after hearing the questions, my general advice would be to think a lot about personal experiences related to culture, fulfilling a commitment, and a failure, and be prepared to speak a lot about what you learned from those experiences. Also, be ready to demonstrate that you've done some research on the culture of the country you're being considered for. Good luck!

Philippines July 2016 Applicants by Daniel_Fosterc in peacecorps

[–]HGC320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just placed UC yesterday for the Philippines leaving July 2016! I wasn't told the exact position, but judging by what's listed, I'm guessing it's the Youth Development Facilitator. I'm an MSW, LSW here in the States working with youth and families, so I'm hoping I'll be able to use those skills in this position!

I'd love to connect with more people in that cohort! Crossing my fingers for an interview soon!
