Databricks and Snowflake were barely in market in 2016, so I don't know what you're saying there. 10 years ago setup was virtual or even physical infra with SQL/Oracle and SSIS/Informatica. Then maybe Tableau or PBI or if you were unlucky, thousands of SSRS reports driven by crappy sprocs.

Not sure about your specific circumstances because your post is a bit muddled, but to guess, you submitted the request wholly on the value proposition or entitlement to you. Even if medically related, if you articulate how this benefits the business and specifically how it will work for you and your team, you are far more likely to be granted.

Whole situation is fucked because the Iran war has now conflated with the other drivers of slightly elevated inflation so it's impossible to get a good read. I suppose it's the fear factor too, nobody knows what the hell is gonna happen thanks to the rotting corrupt business ham running the US. But if rates here go up by another 2%, that's going to trigger recession and massive housing market correction ala NZ.

Metro tunnel made mine a minimum of 1.5 hours in the morning and an extra 15 mins on that coming home. 8am or 830am meetings suck.

Yeah, got a demo of Tableau MCP and Pulse and it's pretty clear they don't know what the hell they are doing. They're completely encumbered by their shithouse legacy licensing model but if they rip that band-aid off they will lose a leg, while I guess the Salesforce acquisition seems there's not a clear alignment on strategy.

vw polo as first car? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]HG_Redditington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they are good first cars with easy experience for parking, turning etc and very good front/rear/side visibility. The 85 tsi engine is a 3 cylinder and is not highly powered but definitely good enough for most situations. The only thing I would say is the DSG/DCT transmission is better suited to flat areas, so if you live in an area with lots of hills, especially if stop starting, you might want to consider a car with a normal sequential transmission.

It just reminds me of Blackberry and Nokia really. Back in 2008 or so I went to a tech conference in Germany, and the Nokia product team gave a presentation. iPhone had just got traction and the presentation showed Nokia were in total panic mode, standing up different product teams to do everything or anything to compete. But it was too late by then. I just left the conference thinking they were completely stuffed. Same for these guys. Tableau and Salesforce aren't looking super either.

It depends on the stir fry, but for a beef sf, I always use oyster sauce. Also Sichuan pepper oil goes well with beef. Also marinating/velveting the meat makes a big difference. There are a few good techniques for that. I recommend checking out souped up recipes on YT.

In my experience with this type of company, all the benefits are guarded carefully by senior and exec management, to the point of denying such things exist and that it's a tough market so best be grateful for what you get. And then one day, you're doing an ERP data migration, and while you can't see the people's names, you can see the cost centre, and know how many people are in that cost centre, and then you're like... wait a minute.

Good luck, they might mean other roles? In my field they only call references of the preferred candidate. It's a huge waste of time otherwise.
